Clattenberg

That made me feel sorry for Arsenal. I never thought I'd say that.
Me too, my blood pressure went through the roof...maybe its because they were in blue.

I've never understood why the Premier league seems to restrict itself to English referees. Its the biggest league in the world with the best players in the world and the referee pool is limited to one small island where every ref would likely have a bias or 4.

I got mad at Facebook earlier and said that the second billionaire (after Bezos) to have liquid gold poured down their throat should be Mark Clattenberg which confused my friend a good bit. Not sure where that came from because I don't think about this clown anymore.

I think the last part of your post has answered your own question.
You are 100% correct that the PL should have international referees.
United in their pomp often got beat by smaller teams from Europe in
the CL because they didn’t get all favourable decisions and couldn’t
influence the refs. That is the reason why the PL doesn’t have foreign
refs unfortunately.

Absolutely no bent refs abroad, no siree.

O guess the difference would be english refs have two ways to play fsvourites...bent and biased vs foreign refs just bent...maybe I'm naive

Well if you believe the narrative that Brit refs get their instructions from the PL to favour teams, the same would apply if the refs were from Mars.

Don't know who I despise more Clattenberg or Collina.

Clattenburg for me, his bias was too obvious

Collina, gave a decision and although it looked really harsh he did come out with a reason for it, TV doesn't really support him given the camera angles that we were shown, but his decision wasn't as clear cut as the Clattenburg match and the obvious way we were cheated. I think we have had worse things go against us, it was the importance of the game that makes it harder to take.

Clattenburg, surely? Collina just went on too long; Clattenburg was on the other hand a (to use something once said about a Spanish ref) specialist in taking dynamite to games, and I've never seen a ref do what he did in that derby.

Yeah it's so damming you couldnt make it up. Note Riley is now the head of the PGMOL
Shouldn’t be anywhere near the game after a refereeing performance like that. Regarding Clattenburg, I seen Hamman said the comments were disturbing earlier in the week. As right as he is, Clattenburg was in the RS back pocket as well. Not normally one to call corruption but if there was ever a game showcasing that some teams got favouritism over others it was that Derby game. The fact he didn’t referee at Goodison for years after it said it all.
