I worry for you if we sign Thiago Silva at 36. But even that could be shrewd business for a season.

Not saying we have not had plans just poorly executed them.

I felt like what we have been doing can work just a shame Brands didn’t get it right last summer in terms of recruitment.

I think you need a blend of youth and experience though, it’s about getting the right balance and of course the best quality possible.

For me I think we are a bit guilty of putting people on pedestals before anything substantial has been achieved. There’s backing someone and then there is getting carried away, Brands is a example of that and some players. We can’t have a repeat of this season.

Creating a thread on concerns of the clubs direction because we are targeting a 27 & 29 year old is bonkers.

At least keep them as long as possible for better chances of silverware otherwise we are going to be were we are now

Think I may have already said this in another thread but here goes.

We have quite a few talented youngsters (below the age of 24) with scope for improvement and possibly a longer term future at the club.

Our issue is with our more senior pros.. if we can get these players we've been linked with (aged 27+ (not that I'm saying that's old. Players look after themselves much better these days and sports science has come a long way to prolonging careers)) and shift out some of our older dross we will have had an excellent window.

Theres still time but unfortunately we are still carrying the legacy of the Koeman/Walsh era which has hamstrung us.

Players judged solely on their age.

Crap CB from Brazil whos played about 30 games in 5 seasons = Amazing cos hes 24
World Class RB from Italy, 300+ games under his belt at the very highest level, multiple caps for Italy = Crap cos hes 29.

exactly they’re a no quick fix. And In the meantime box head gets the Barca Job. He should be sued for the mess he’s made here!
