Haven't read all the guidelines, but my understanding was that larger gatherings meant something like 150 people at a wedding do or a couple of hundred in a church, maybe even a thousand spaced out at a match. But not 30 thousand at a game.

I could be completely wrong though. But I didnt think it meant full stadiums in the middle of august
That’s my take on it as well, social events more than huge numbers of people.

You could see local park football back a long time before you see professional.

It looks like it will come down to a vote, with the 'Big Six' trying to bully the bottom six:

The article seems to ignore the fact that the government has a rather big say in the matter as well.

'the ‘Big Six’ clubs - who vote as a bloc - are lobbying for guarantees that promotion and relegation will still be implemented - even if the season is cancelled at its current point.'

'They are furious at what they see as sabotage and mere self-interest from those at the bottom, rather than what is best for the Premier League and English football as a whole.'

Or maybe it's because those clubs at the bottom would see it as an injustice if they were relegated.

Also got to laugh at the 'big six' saying it's all about self-interest with those clubs at the bottom rather than what's best for the premier league and English football as a whole, yeah it's like with the big six it's never been about self-interest for them over the years.

‘Big Six’lol

Tottenham have literally just benefited from being a London club and able to rake in extra ticket money from their fans because of it and Man City and Chelsea are only in their positions because they were randomly picked as billionaire’s playthings.

We’d take on any of them.

I agree with you, there isn't a big 6. There is a big 5 and then there is currently Spurs in 6th.
I think to say Spurs have only moved up a level just cos they are a London club is a bit derogatory.
Over the last 10 years they have slowly got better and eventually became regular Champions League participants whilst competing against much richer clubs and without having the help of a rich sugar daddy pumping money in and have also often been held up by other clubs as an example of how to progress without the funds.
In he's 5 years at the club, Pochettino did a very good job getting Spurs up there considering the obstacles he had to overcome (like having to play all home games at Wembley for 18 months and 3 transfer windows with no signings.)
I also think the future for Spurs is probably on a downward spiral but my point still stands on what's been achieved (and all this while a very expensive stadium was being built.)

Spurs have never been short of money. I remember when we finished 4th in 2005 your lot spent well beyond what we could imagine to try and get in it the next year (possibly the year your whole team came down with food poisoning on the last day).

Spurs have definitely benefited from being a London club. You can charge prices for tickets that we never could. We’re in a city on the brink of financial ruin (again).

It might come across as disrespectful but to suggest Spurs are ‘Big’ yet Everton aren’t is just madness and it is driven by the London-centric media.

I never actually said Spurs are bigger than Everton, I said Spurs are CURRENTLY on there own in 6th (although the old chestnut of who is bigger is for a different argument.)
To say Spurs have only progressed cos they were able to charge 36,000 supporters more to get in than than the 40,000 Everton charge to get in is a bit of a stretch.
Anyway, this thread is about something a lot more important than football so I will leave it there on this thread

Spurs, as far as I can ever remember, have always been a favourite of the London-based media.

I wouldn’t say being able to price higher because you’re in London is the only reason you progressed but it is a huge factor.

Play a bit of Sunday league myself and can't see even us being back training or playing before September.

I wouldn't bet on their being any championship this year either.

The thing is, governments can plan all the like and even put dates to it but all it takes is another increase in infections and we are all back locked inside again.
Apparently our league is about to set a date for a return at the end of July, whilst our club want to get back training at the end of this month.

Find it a bit farcical given our pitch is well beyond the permitted travel distance for lots of our players. Personally I have no interest in returning to it as things stand.

Talking about self interest, maybe the FA should be asking Liverpool and Chelsea why their ladies teams, want their league nulled. What's good for the girls is good for the boys, equal rights en all. lol

This stage of it all seems very experimental in that attempts will be made to allow sport to happen and people to work but all underpinned by and watch and see brief.

I’m sure even some pro-players aren’t keen on going back in the near future either mate.
