August 24th, 1974… West Ham vs Everton.Scored an even better one (IMO) against West Brom in September '68. The only "scruffy" goal I remember him scoring was against Man Utd at the Burnden Park Cup semi final.
I was there tooAugust 24th, 1974… West Ham vs Everton.
King Colin scored an absolute screamer at West Ham in a 3-2 win.
We’d led 0-2 at half time through goals from Joe Royle and Bob Latchford before the Hammers drew level with two goals in a minute from Billy Bonds (pen) and McDowell.
With less than ten minutes to play, Colin drove forward and from around 22 yards smashed an absolute howitzer that Mervyn Day barely saw never mind tried to save.
I went mental and nearly got lynched… was in the wrong part of Upton Park… doh but, a wonderful memory of a truly memorable footballer.
Definitely a Coronthian, through out his career as a player, coach, manager and a gentleman, off the Park. Looking back, the Holy Trinity , were superb , football poetry in motion. This has to be done

Football Genesis - Upton Park or bust... - taleoftwohalves.uk
The 1974/75 season was my fifth supporting Everton on an every-game basis, with hitch-hiking now a fixture of my away day travels. Relatively easy hikes to the likes of Sheffield, Leeds and Birmingham had all been successfully completed, but long-distance trips to London and beyond remained...taleoftwohalves.uk
