This report* suggests Boeing has stopped hiring and drawing down the remainder of a $13B loan. No doubt Chapter 11 is next up in the Boeing story.

So, I am in Christchurch for a type rating course, which grants me certain access around the airport.

Here is the NASA SOFIA 747SP that has a massive telescope into it.

And just sneaking into the pic is one of the antarctic C-130's, Complete with skis installed!

I also flew into Christchurch on the flight deck of an A321neo. Was awesome!

Cool, Sofia is a great project not only for the science it produces, but for the incredible engineering that went into it. There's a rerally good engineering podcast I listen to that had a two part episode on it including an interview with the pilots on the flight operations of the project. Well worth a listen:
