Is too great a workload being placed on elite EPL athletes?

Personally I think some play too much - those in Euro competitions and/or playing at a WC/Euros. Athletes these days are all finely tuned glass cannons and they're getting run ragged with some not really having a pre-season anymore because they feel they need PT's on holiday to stay in shape.

It also shows on the pitch as personally thought the Euros were crap and most teams looked knackered even in group stages.

New CL format has more games, Conference League wtf is that? Extra pointless internationals every few weeks and 800 team World Cup's.

I love footie but it's too much.
Love a bit of nuance on the internet.
💯

Taking away the players point of view, it is just simply too much football not to get bored at some point.

This next World Cup is going to be a slog for some, for those that have seen it then the film Baseketball is not far off with the scene where the commentators are there talking about the 15th month of the play offs, etc. The European competitions new format is stupid.

Then you have clubs going on multiple overseas tours, wasn't there a game between 2 Prem club in Australia less than a week after the season finished.

With regards to the players, I think they have a right to be angry at the amount of extra games the footballing bodies are setting up, however, they need to be careful if they want public opinion on their side.

Saint Son of Tottenham kind of made that point yesterday, essentially saying the quantity is affecting the quality, and the punters are more interested in quality.

Less matches would mean more good matches

European competitions should get to knockout football far earlier, not add more group games. I find CL and Europe league group stage football can be some of the most boring, unwatchable football all season.

There is just far too much midweek football. I lose track of it all these days and forget the half of it is even on

Every big team at the euros was crap this year with maybe Spain as the exception. That tells you all you need to know. It's easy to point to the money but they are 100% playing too many games and it's making the sport worse to watch
If you were to reduce the number of games by 10% and asked them to take a 10% pay cut they would tell you to get lost.
They want it both ways

Exactly, cup football should always have jeopardy. And the league formats of cup competitions just doesn't do that for me (Rugby is similar but there are fewer games so there is a difference there).
