Anyone keeping up with all this Escape From Tarkov drama?
I don't play it myself, but my younger brother does and he's been keeping me up to date on it all.
Essentially, there's different versions of the game you can buy. Tiers if you like that give you more stuff to get you started pending on the price. From the standard priced base game up to what was called the Edge of Darkness edition (EOD) which was £150. You got the game, a load of unique items and starting money I think plus a pass that grants you access to all future DLC content.
Today Battlestate Games (BSG) the devs have released a new edition called the Unheard Edition (UE) which is £250 (TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS) which gives you all of that plus access to a new single player & co-op PVE mode. Previously the single player mode was for practice only and you couldn't progress the game or save loot or anything afaik.
The EOD edition has now been removed from sale and those that have it have been told that if they want the single player mode they have to pay the £100 upgrade to UE.
Those that own the EOD are rightly angry, asking why the 'All future DLC pass' they paid £150 for doesn't get them the the single player mode and BSG have told them it "doesn't count as DLC" and are now retroactively changing the store pages and descriptions for their previous versions which someone had dug up on waybackmachine
A lot of people saying this is outright illegal, but we'll see.
The reddit is apparently ablaze at the moment and their discord sever is unusable as people are just copy+paste spamming all the rooms.
Even the hacking/cheating 'community' have joined together to attack/grief any players they find online who have bought this new edition.
The devs meanwhile seem to be melting down themselves:
