Milking how? They have pretty high quality control for their major franchises so don't just release any old game with mario slapped on it. If it's about remakes or whatnot, isn't that pretty much industry standard

Not that I really care, I just enjoy lots of their games a lot and love the switch as a console. They could milking stuff that I pay no attention to tbh.
Any new anything ever has a coincidental Mario release, there has to be one, they have names and records to maintain. Game quality from a "is it functional/polished" perspective is definitely high, but it's always the safest option; from the company that used to regularly invent/push new things, it's disappointing.
They've also cracked down massively on game preservation, emulation and other practices for their old games, while simultaneously refusing to release any updated versions, as everything is corporate/profits now, and nothing else.

They do make some great games, and that tends to overshadow controversy though, which is okay I guess - Ubisoft were the same early on in the 2010s with the first assassin creeds and the far cry and the likes, as the games were so good that people were willing to look away from the obvious negatives, which were piling up.

Honestly more power to anyone that likes them, I can clearly see why, it's just not my thing.

As is also proprietary "only on this device" BS in the current years.

To cross over two different conversations I wouldn't mind having 1 on the switch to fly thru it
I think with the newest consoles there's a slight chance, depends on the legendary edition being ported I think. It is quite old tech (at this current point) so porting should be possible.

Also semirelated - I have a mate who works for a studio that does a lot of ports and he said that to/from Switch ports were both the easiest and hardest  cuz most things seem like they are/should be easy but they just never are as easy to perfect.

I'd say Wonder and Odyssey suggest they still innovate with Mario. Zeldas last two outings have lots of new ideas.

The other stuff yeah, it's like I said, something I don't see impacts me so don't think about it much as it doesn't change the enjoyment of having these games on handheld or the fun of the latest Zelda

Nintendo gets a pass for life because of eye, golden eye! Shaken, stirred and 4 ways in the Aztec arena. Who said body armour camping isn't allowed.

Absolutely understandable mate and no doubt good/polished games, so it makes sense.
