Any new anything ever has a coincidental Mario release, there has to be one, they have names and records to maintain. Game quality from a "is it functional/polished" perspective is definitely high, but it's always the safest option; from the company that used to regularly invent/push new things, it's disappointing.
They've also cracked down massively on game preservation, emulation and other practices for their old games, while simultaneously refusing to release any updated versions, as everything is corporate/profits now, and nothing else.
They do make some great games, and that tends to overshadow controversy though, which is okay I guess - Ubisoft were the same early on in the 2010s with the first assassin creeds and the far cry and the likes, as the games were so good that people were willing to look away from the obvious negatives, which were piling up.
Honestly more power to anyone that likes them, I can clearly see why, it's just not my thing.
As is also proprietary "only on this device" BS in the current years.
