Computer games.

Must be a favoured pal, didn't have you down for being nagged for more than twenty minutes.

Best friend for 30 years so give him a pass.

Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 anygood?
Mate’s just rabbited my head off for 2 hours hiking about this Kingdom Come sequel. Anyone playing it?

I'm really enjoying it.
If you liked the first one then you'll love this. It's basically more of the same with more features and a few tweaks here and there.

It is very slow paced though.

Never played the first one. Is it in the Skyrim mold?

It's similar to Skyrim with it's gameplay mechanics and medieval lore, yeah. It is much more story driven for me, though, to the point it becomes a chore to follow when you're interacting with NPCs. Some might even say boring, especially if they're not RPG hardened, but I just so happen to like story rich games so I'm persevering.

Only in the sense that it's an RPG and has that medieval theme.
It has a bigger focus on realism though, so no magic and elves etc.

There's quite a lot of freedom in how you approach certain objectives and even things like your appearance and what you are wearing change how people interact with you.
You have to wash yourself and your clothes to keep clean. If you speak to someone when you are stinking and covered in mud, people wont react well and may even not believe you on certain points.
Wear shining plate armor and people will address you differently, bandits and the like will be more scared of you doubly so if you are covered in blood from your last fight. Dress like a nobleman, wear expensive jewelry and the like and people will trust you more.
Armor is noisy, so if you want to be more stealthy, you have to wear dark regular clothing.
That's just the clothing/armor system. Every in-game mechanic has this level of depth.

Weapons require maintenance to keep them effective, picking fresher herbs will yield better craftable ointments and tonics, you can hunt for food, then dry or smoke the meat so it lasts longer.
You even get a pet dog!
Like Skyrim, literally every action you do has an experience meter attached to it. From combat, weapon type specific combat, horseriding, crafting, speech, lockpicking etc. - the more you use each skill, the better you get at it.

With that though comes an absurd amount of micromanaging - if you are looking for a proper immersive medieval game, then this is for you. If you are looking for something more action focused then maybe not,

Pretty much all of the major studios are bought up and corporate at this point. Everything is safe and nothing is really inspired. Instead of friends getting together and making games they are being told how to write and what they are allowed to do. BG3 may be the one outlier for a long time. It's a shame.
Mate started a smallish video games company that has had some ok releases. Enough to pay off his house anyways and take about 5 family holidays a year. There’s quite a big indie scene apparently and he always suggests these mad niche games.

Most of my fav games from the past few years are indie titles. That's where the real creativity is at these days.
Blasphemous, Inside, Intravenous 2, Disco Elysium, Subnautica, Balataro, Slay the Spire etc.

Just picked up the full release of Door Kickers 2, which has been early access for ages.

Don't let the primitive graphics fool you. It's insanely addictive - I have like 150 hours in the early access version alone
