Confirmed Signing Conor Coady

He went to the same primary school as I did so it’s a no from me.
Think it's a no from me as well. I know he's done quite well for Wolves over last couple of seasons and got himself a few England caps. I am still a little unsure myself, I might be wrong. Does he want to play for Everton. If he does and wants to jump at the chance to come and play here. At the School of Science please let me know. Be great to know how he feels. Up the Blues.

He’ll definitely want a pay rise to come here

With no bias you’d have to say that Wolves are a more attractive prospect right now

If he's not being offered game time at Wolves but he is here Mikey, I'd say we'd be a far better proposition.

No way will Coady be happy on the bench at Wolves. He'll want to be cementing his squad place for the World Cup.

He would probably take a pay cut under the circumstances, since it's his shot at a big winner's medal. He has to be sharp enough to play if called upon due to a rash of injuries. Southgate can't afford to just select him as a mascot.

If a loan option, its a no brainer. Just to remind everyone

2 of these players will be mainly playing week in week out as things stands

Keane
Holgate
Godfrey

Mina won't last 5 minutes so it's about which 2 partner Mike Wazowski in defence.

Assuming Mina goes or is mostly injured a back three of Coady, Tarkowski and Godfrey wouldn't provide much height by modern standards, all around the 6ft mark. Although maybe that's part of the thinking behind the push for Onana.

On loan it would seem like really astute business. Someone reminded me earlier that having five subs makes it much more palatable to sub out a center back if needed to switch the system. I was thinking of the times we've had to switch formations from 3 at the back to 4 at the back in second half.

Still does feel like kind of an awkward fit to me, though. While I'd prefer it was Keane or Holgate that was sold, you have to assume it would be Mina sold to make way. If that's the case you could end up with a Coady-Keane pairing at times depending on injuries or form, which honestly sounds like a nightmare. But at full strength him and Tarkowski would give us leadership and passing ability, two things that we've sorely lacked from the position in recent years.
