Confirmed Signing Conor Coady

If he can’t play in both a 3 at the back and 4 at the back system, then I think it’s a bad idea. Even in the games we started 3 at the back last season, in at least a couple of them we had to change tactics to a back 4 part way through the game. That works if one of the back 3 is a Godfrey type who can fake it at full back, and the other go center. You can’t be subbing CBs in at half time though.

Which on second thought, is what we have to do half the time that Mina starts.

Coady has only missed ONE league game in 4 years.

I'm not saying he's the answer but at least if he was part of a backline with Tarks, you'd know they'd be reliable to play.

For me it's all about small steps, I think he improves us considerably. I'd take him for a small price.

I think a lot of our defensive problems are based around the changing at the back constantly through injuries. I think a settled back four would make a huge difference to where we finished next season.

I'd be all over this. Leader who can play in a back 3 when Mina inevitably gets injured. Shift Keane or Holgate. Coady was a massive presence in the England camp. Not bothered he is kopite either.

He's mince.

Most over rated player in the PL because the Liverpool dominated media talk him up - he's a yard dog.

I don't really like or dislike him

One thing I will say is that if he's coming in then we're going to need to sell somebody to accommodate him

I'm sure he'll do a job for us, but I can't really picture his heart being in it either, especially as the big selling point as far as he's concerned is apparently that it's a convenient commute

Wolves to Everton is at best a lateral move right now, so I bet we'd up his wages to get him, which is just more of the budget getting siphoned away

Will be interesting to see if the board say no to Thelwell on this one. Earlier in the window he wanted another of his ex players Traore and the board have clearly said no to that one. He needs to expand his scouting network very quickly in order to stand a chance of succeeding here.
