An amusing anecdote of our former skipper Phil,I remember being at St Andrews Birmingham,we drew 1-1 I think wearing the black away kit with the pink stripes,a few of the players including Phil came across to the Blues and threw their jerseys in amongst us Phil included...................Phils top got launched back at him???

Pretty much summed up what he thought of Everton when we won the semi final in 2009 on penalties! He looked apologetically over at the Man U bench where his brother was sat and looked gutted!

Did you miss the season that Tony Thomas was here?
I know Tony Thomas didnt work out to put it mildly, he was stepping up from Tranmere ( but on the back of a few decent seasons tbf) - not much cash paid, I recall, and potentially could have worked out ala Joe Parkinson, Seamus Coleman ( it obv didnt though! ) The thread though was mainly me being upset about us signing a player that I despise - and nothing in his spell really turned that opinion around. Dont know too much about Tony Thomas as a guy and whether his failure was just lack of talent or attitude. Anyways, I think I might be in a slightly different argument now so I will leave it, crack open a beer and hopefully watch England stuff the Spanish.

A mate of mine whose a Man Utd fan really disliked him and proper took the pee out of me when we signed him. Gave his all though a very limited player. Sometimes his distribution was abysmal. Took a good penalty though, don't think he ever missed one in a shoot-out for us.

My criticisms are his heart was never truly in it with us. When he was on Gary Neville's 'Soccerbox' on Sky some of his comments about the club were a bit out of order for me with lots of little digs and after BK infamously got clapped when his grid appeared on the big screen during that Villa game, he did a post-match interview and talked about the 'real fans' who applauded him. Well Phil, 'not real fans' like me who refused to clap that phoney are still going to Goodison season in season out.

Neville in put a real shift for us everytime he crossed the white line so I can't really argue with his effort but he went on a season or two too long here. His legs had long gone by the time of his last game for us, that horrific FA Cup hammering by Wigan when he gave one of the worst individual performances by an Everton player in years, and there's plenty of them to choose from.

Made a good solid honest contribution to Everton in his short time here. Not interested in former affiliations.
OK Giant tortoise - 8 years is a short time.
He was in the Utd first team for 10 - to give you some proportionality.

He was fine for a few years, did his best but like Coleman wasn't working with great fundamentals. So when the legs went he was a horrible player to watch.

Managed to play for the club and captain it for years without having a clue what it was all about, he once called the Moyes era a “golden generation” you’d think the club had never won a corner before Moyes rocked up to hear him speak, also overplays that tackle on Ronaldo as if it was a ‘where were you’moment to rival the moon landings and JFK assassinations.
