Consensus On Pip Neville

Utility player. Not a particular expert anywhere, but could be relied on for a good attitude and to fill in and do his best. showed more graft than a lot of players with 100 times the natural ability he has. and thats the crumbler, application. didn't shirk a game or a tackle or a poor performance. dusted himself down and got on and had another go.
I've heard it said we know our football, I've heard it said we can tolerate players not up to the grade but what we have never and will never accept is players half-arsing it, not trying, not fighting for us.
When did NSNO no longer apply? When the PL was ushered in and we werent in a position to duke it out close to a fair fight. agent johnson, mike walker, and relegation battles. the first cut is the deepest, and its got sweet nothing to do with Neville. P.
I'm sure all generations of fans have different times whem NSNO died. My crew said it went when Alan Ball was sold. All opinions

Ball wanted to go. For me it's when we appointed Mike Walker. Nothing against the fella but he was never good enough to manage us.
It was a moment, it was the time I gave up travelling 4 hrs to get the game using all my pocket money up on about 4 trains (Parents wouldnt let their 14 year olds do it now) to get to games. Efan Ekoku was one from that season

Decent bloke when we met him.
Really useful utility player who could cover a number of positions.
Bit of a "Swiss army knife" type of player for Moyes when we didn't have any money

He was a limited player but a good professional. He improved the team.

Six Premief League titles, three FA Cups, Champions League, Inter Continental Cup and 59 England Caps.

Yeah, he was rubbish.
He was instrumental in those successes wasn’t he, and yet Ferguson sold him in his prime! Must have been a bad egg.

Everton were 18th when Ball was sold, so hardly the best time to claim NSNO.
I dont really know, as I wasnt born then. But I guess what I am trying to get to is when you see talent leave ( or if what you say is right "was talented") , and sh*te then moves in, then you will be disgruntled. I am sure the generation who saw Rooney for a season would prefer that than 5 years of Brett Angell. What is NSNO now????

I couldn’t stand him, but I’d have in a heartbeat in this team over some of the current lot.

Did I say he was instrumental?

He was a good utility player for us. The type of player that would have improved us in the last few seasons.

He was a solid if unspectacular player who did a job, which is more than can be said for about half our squad last season.

His winners record and England caps speak for themselves.
