Consensus On Pip Neville

Neville in put a real shift for us everytime he crossed the white line so I can't really argue with his effort but he went on a season or two too long here. His legs had long gone by the time of his last game for us, that horrific FA Cup hammering by Wigan when he gave one of the worst individual performances by an Everton player in years, and there's plenty of them to choose from.
Always gets forgotten about that Fellaini literally threw his arms in the air and gave up during that game around the 50 minute mark.

I'm still fuming about it. Grrr.

I presume all your life you never bought into NSNO? fair play if you didn't. I did, and it was generations of blues in my family that thought that way that makes me still proud to be a blue. NSNO & the school of science are philosophies and ideals which may well not be a trophy count to you, but which I've always thought made us worlds apart from the RS. The history and the beliefs for me makes us.
NSNO has never really existed.

They are words on a badge. A logo that looks nice.

It would be nice if they meant something but in reality they mean as much as Sunderland's Pursuit of Excellence or Villa being prepared. We didn't even spell it correctly on one kit!

Basically, wasn’t exciting but was an important cog in a very solid premier league side for around a decade.
A lot stronger then our current situation.

His little dinks down the wing and his 1mph lofted crosses did my head in but I didn't mind him. Felt we were usually a better team when he played

Ball wanted to go. For me it's when we appointed Mike Walker. Nothing against the fella but he was never good enough to manage us.
Mike Walker was enjoying a purple patch with norwich finishing 3rd in the premier league and then going well in Europe, playing good football.
He was a popular appointment at the time.
My god was he a disaster.
Rumours of being a alcoholic surfaced later.

People make fun of pointing but how else do you tell someone where to be. I can just imagine it now: "Go over there"..."Where"...."There"..."Sorry but not sure I know, can you point to....oh crap they scored".

Seriously though, so many people have a go at captains for not being proactive and shouty enough and then have a go at a captain for being proactive and shouty. I liked him, he wasn't the best but it seemed to work, remember it is a team game and you could have a bunch of the most talented players in the world and still get beat week in week out.

He was no Carsley but it is a similar thing, not the best player to grace the game but worked hard, got around the pitch and organised.

Mystery to this day, it was a completely reasonable appointment as Walker had done brilliantly well with Norwich. Someone else must have been responsible for that success as Walker wasn't just bad he was like an imposter. Looked and acted like an estate agent who had won a competition to manage a premier league football club for a season.
