So you draw the line. Are you willing to stay at home, never go to a party or on holiday for two years, if some elderly and ill people live a bit longer? Just answer that honestly. And if you say yes to that then what about the mental and physical health effects on millions of others in order to do that.

We are not even being forced to stay at home now, never mind for 2 years. No one is even proposing what you suggest because the government appreciate the wider damaging effects that would have on the economy and society as a whole. What we are experiencing are some limitations to what we can do and how we do them to try and limit the spread of infection. It seems you are overstating what is actually happening to support your argument that it is disproportionate?

Because of a virus that has killed thousands and could get a whole lot worse, not a plot by the world's governments (do you honestly think socialists, conservatives, communists and fascists all seem to be happy to work together to pull this off? What would the end goal be?).

Again, what in the current climate are world governments getting out of this? My only cynicism is of certain individuals who are profiteering off the back of it.

The ones I'm aware of talk of shadowy cults and even aliens operating above the governments. The whole one world government idea in which nation level rule is a mere distraction for the masses.

I can understand some not making sense- seeing the government's haphazard, erratic approach has bewildered- and left another chasm in British society to exploit and distract- we aren't talking as much about how badly it was handled, and we're fighting over lock down rules not who implemented them.
A good government would of had clear, science-backed advice, with rules and regs to strictly adhere to, and relax when cases had shrunk to near nothing.
Whether this was stupidity, or more malevolent, is the conspiracy theory aspect of this.
I wear a mask all day every day, I couldn't go on holiday purely due to being denied leave as a key worker, but I do carry on as normal- see family, shop, eat out, go the gym (now can go on holiday,although this is limited by ours, and other govts)
We also manage severe covid infections a million times better than at the start, and I'm due a booster covid vaccine, so likely we know what dose will generate antibodies very soon.

Note: I effing hate wearing masks, but I've not seen any negative effects bar having a sweaty chin/top lip because I have to be clean shaven also.

If the measures are effective why do hundrerds of new cases in the uk alone keep on being reported every day, yet death numbers are really low now? It just doesnt make any sense.
And yes I do believe the general media are over hyping it cos it's in their interest to in order to keep people accessing them for info.

Deaths are extremely low and if you look at countries that recorded the deaths properly, they are very low. Our death total is/was a complete farce. I know someone who works in a care home. They had someone die from a heart attack yet the doctor on the death certificate put it as covid. The care staff argued that it wasn't but the doctor said 'we've been told to put covid on them all'.. it's a mess.

Incompetence is definitely the theme with the government. Its not that they're trying to control us. They just aren't very good at their jobs.

That said, this is fairly unique and I don't think any country will come out of this with a smug sense of achievement.

Over 50000 extra people have died than as expected as evidenced in the period shown on this chart. Keep hearing stories of ‘my mates grandma had a bad heart but was told it was Covid.’ How do you account for these extra deaths? 50,000 people
