This thread has been done oft times before (so I am repeating myself here), but the Paul Foot / Jim Swire theory over the downing of the Pan-Am plane that crashed on Lockerbie is much more convincing than the government narrative is.

Always wondered about this one, I worked in Stretham south London many years ago, and the elder people in the pub I used to work in were adamant that " the crystal Palace" was deliberately burnt down because of Nazi Germany and tensions growing in Europe in late 1937, there were fears of a bombing campaign over London, and the crystal palace was the perfect pointer(re reflection) for getting the bombers their bearings.

It makes sense though never heard it said anywhere else.
