Conspiracy theories

He's the spit of Hewitt, I've always thought no DNA test is needed.

Quite. The aristocracy have forever swept/accepted these "inconveniences" under an expensive carpet. Legend has it that it happened in my family, many moons ago. Needless to say, I am on the wrong end of the tree, following the mishap.

The myths surrounding the sinking of the Titanic were covered very recently on Skeptoid. They discussed the hypothesis of a coal fire being the cause, it being an 'insurance job', and also that it was the sister ship Olympia that actually sunk.

For anyone who believes any of these theories, I suggest you give it a listen (or read the transcript of the episode, along with all of the references and suggested evidence based further reading).

Check this out.

This documentary has been thoroughly debunked by a team of 7 maritime historians in a 25 page scientific paper

Good read. Glad someone has rebuked that documentary, when I sat there watching it I thought it was all bullcrap.

Pretty much the same with the latest thoughts that the ship didn't break up on or near the surface due to the fact that the debris field is so small. That is despite 100 years of shifting sea bed that could have buried the smaller items on the edge of the field and the fact that there were numerous eye witness reports to say she broke up on the surface. The sad thing is unlike the C4 coal fire documentary this came from a well respected expert.

Sometimes people get caught up in the detail they lose sight of all the story.

It's a useful thing to add the odd legitimised [Poor language removed] into the mix. They can't marry their cousins forever.

I think they took a look at Charles and decided it was time to let a generation or two go and put it about a bit and get some fresh DNA in the lineage.

..absolutely. It was more the accuracy of the lineage and history that I was thinking of. Harry was 3rd in line to the throne and it’s likely he’s got no direct bloodline at all. He does seem a decent bloke, though.

Is it likely, though? I thought Princess Diana said the affair with Major Hewitt began after Prince Harry's birth. And to me the lad does look like Prince Charles, apart from the hair colour which is a Spencer trait.

I'm not a Royalist btw. I just think Prince Harry is Prince Charles' kid.

Harry? Yeah, he is. And its an "in joke", sort of "FFS Kev" on here amongst the circles he swims in.

And I know this how? From a few Polo riders who mix in said circles.
Funny you should say that mate. Me and the missus were on a cruise last summer and got very pally with this (as it happens very fit) Aussie bird who was on holiday with her old dad. She's actually English but has lived in Oz for nearly 30 years.

Her husband (whose best mate was Kerry Packer, a big polo promoter in his day apparently) breeds and trains polo horses, and they spend the whole polo season here in the UK. They know the polo playing Royals very well, including Charles and the two princes. I jokingly dropped my theory about Harry into the conversation one night and she looked at me as though I'd robbed the crown jewels. She wouldn't confirm one way or the other but left me with the feeling that it's probably the worst kept secret amongst the polo community.

I wouldn't mind, I was only joking when I brought it up but now I defo think there's something in it.:)

20% of Americans apparently now think the moon landings were a hoax. I'm not sure what to believe but there some strange things about it that's for sure. NASA unable to answer the difficult questios because they've lost the technology sounds a bit suspect to me . Anyway here an interesting film if like me you're new to this one.

The information regarding the van Allen belt is somewhat compelling...

The information regarding the van Allen belt is somewhat compelling...

Prof. James van Allen himself (who the "van Allen belt" is named after) spoke on this a few years back:

Ø The radiation belts of the Earth do, indeed, pose important constraints on the safety of human space flight.

Ø The very energetic (tens to hundreds of MeV) protons in the inner radiation belt are the most dangerous and most difficult to shield against. Specifically, prolonged flights (i.e., ones of many months' duration) of humans or other animals in orbits about the Earth must be conducted at altitudes less than about 250 miles in order to avoid significant radiation exposure.

Ø A person in the cabin of a space shuttle in a circular equatorial orbit in the most intense region of the inner radiation belt, at an altitude of about 1000 miles, would be subjected to a fatal dosage of radiation in about one week.

Ø However, the outbound and inbound trajectories of the Apollo spacecraft cut through the outer portions of the inner belt and because of their high speed spent only about 15 minutes in traversing the region and less than 2 hours in traversing the much less penetrating radiation in the outer radiation belt. The resulting radiation exposure for the round trip was less than 1% of a fatal dosage - a very minor risk among the far greater other risks of such flights. I made such estimates in the early 1960s and so informed NASA engineers who were planning the Apollo flights. These estimates are still reliable.

;)

Really?

Interesting stuff. Are you into polo? My niece's posh hubby is.
Polo eh. Years ago I was stuck somewhere with absol'kin lutly nothing to read ( junky needs his fix) the only thing I could find was a chic lit thing by jilly cooper...yeah I know, but as escape-ism and an explanation of polo very good for what it was
