Contracts expiring

2025

Virginia - the club has an option to extend for a year; will keep him as backup
Begovic - release
Crellin - release
Keane - release
Young - release
Coleman - will offer him a year extension for his leadership
Mangala - would love to sign him on perm before he got acl; hopefully a deal can be done as soon as he recovers whether on loan or perm
Doucoure - offer him a year extension on reduced terms
Gana - obviously have to offer him an extension
Harrison - release
Lindstrom - sign him on perm
DCL - release
Broja - given his injury records; release

Coleman should not be given a new contract. If we are to perform at the highest level we need to start making hard nosed decisions. He can barely string a couple of games together and won't be any better for being a year older.

Young at least seems fit enough to play so if you are going to pick one, I would rather they go for him. Even better if we get two new full backs and a winger so we can say goodbye to both.

All that said, I am a sentimental fool and have little issue him getting a REALLY short term contract so he can come on for a bit in the new stadium to complete the journey, or even better sign up as a player-coach. Emphasis completely towards the coach more than a player though and is only there for a very last resort (and to get a few minutes at BMD).

Surely Seamus will just retire and become full time member of coaching staff. I don't think he's been named as a sub since Bournemouth so it's probably already happened on the quiet and he'll announce it before Southampton home game so he gets a farewell on the pitch from that (if the team is safe by then).

Agree with all of the above apart from I'd still release Doucs as one goal dosen't change his overall decline in the final third in last 12 months.

Gana certainly worth keeping around as still excellent fitness record although would expect him to be more of a sub/squad player next season.

I agree Coleman should be given his flowers at the end of the season with a huge send off before welcoming him back as a coach .
It’s a telling thing that ALL of our last managers have said what a true pro he is . He will be a great person to have around to greet new arrivals and to go between locker room and manager . He really should not get another playing contract .
Another year is just too much for Young I think . Let him go back to Utd for some punditry.
I do get a sneaky , horrible suspicion that Keane and Doucs will get new contracts just to fill out the squad as there is going to be a lot of empty spaces to fill.

Coleman - will offer him a year extension for his leadership, absolutely not and one of my favourite Everton players.
Mangala - would love to sign him on perm before he got acl; hopefully a deal can be done as soon as he recovers whether on loan or perm. Unfortunate injury even tho the option to make permanent isn’t there I’d look elsewhere now.
Doucoure - offer him a year extension on reduced terms absolutely not reduced terms would have to be at least half and I still wouldn’t want to see him play for free in a Everton shirt.
Gana - obviously have to offer him an extension
Harrison - release
Lindstrom - sign him on perm, not yet let’s see how the season plans out and maybe consider
DCL - release
Broja - given his injury records; release

Priorities for me would be Gana and Garner, think getting one more year from Gana and tying down Garner long term is key for the midfield short and long term. Tarkowski follows them as someone who I’d be keen to sign a new deal, most likely a shorter one.

Next would be looking to get Myko on a new long term deal. For some of the stick he gets (and I’ve been one of those), I do think we need to look to retain our younger players either as a squad option or a sale asset at least - we got too normalised to players leaving on frees.

Which brings me to Keane et al. I’d have no issue seeing Keane, Maupay (obviously), DCL (regrettable he got that injury but it’s done), Holgate all go.

The ones I’m undecided is the likes of Doucoure and Lindstrom. I’ve been Duke’s biggest critic, and I do always acknowledge the (few) times he proves us wrong. But I still feel that his wages, age and clumsiness are reasons to consider letting him go, but I do imagine a short team deal will be offered. Lindstrom, he’s turning into a bit of fan favourite and he deserves it. But I keep thinking of that 20m price and it feels steep for no goals. I fully recognise what he does elsewhere on the pitch and it’s important, but at the end of the day he’s still a forward player. Fellow is being quoted at £15m, Edwards went for £8m. You feel like there could be better value elsewhere.

I wouldn’t be too focused on the 2027s at this point, but Pickford, Tim, McNeil are the stand outs (assuming Branthwaite is sold). I’d love to see Patterson get a loan between now and then but the jury is very much still out on him currently.

Massive opportunity as has been said to shape the team long term this summer.

isnt doucoure on 100k plus? for that alone he goes
And cost to replace is ? Unless it's a free transfer at less wages its likely to cost club more to bring in a new player even loan players of any quality require a loan fee.
Clearly if you get someone better for similar/less go for it.

So glad to see almost all of the rest of the dead weight coming off the books. Personally Id only bring back Gana and Lindstrom(on a reduced fee, so depending on cost). Gana I think will be valuable to fill the squad and prove stability while we transition to a new starter. Lindstrom, depending on how the rest of the season goes I can see as a valuable squad option to fill in at multiple spots. I wouldnt like him as a starter and wouldnt pay based on that. Other than that, Id let them all go.

We already know we are bringing in a striker and winger, so bring in one good RB, one good midfielder and a backup CB and we've filled all of the expiring spots.
