I bought one of these last week - they're great.
Just put water in the bottom of the pan and simmer. Makes lovely poached eggs.

Always butter the plastic cup(?) before adding the egg though, they plop out nice and easy then.

Good thread this. However, I can't believe there have been so many pages on how to cook an egg.

Anybody got any recipes to do an ice cube?

Use hot water to do ice cubes. It freezes more quickly.

I've heard this ... I'm not convinced about it. I reckon it's a misunderstanding based on the way we are taught at school that: "hot things cool faster than cold things" meaning .... if you have more heat to lose then you lose it faster - ie thermal gradients etc. But surely once the hot water has got to 5 degrees, it will cool at the same rate that cold water at 5 degrees will cool.

I can't honestly see any way in which hot, fast molecules will get to freeze faster than already slow, cold ones.

It works, I've tried it.

If you can't flip omelettes simply do one side on the hob and the bung it under the grill for a lovely fluffy omelette.

Never flip omelettes! Lob your fillings in the pan, pour the egg on, leave with no stirring for a while, then cheese on, and under the grill. The grill brings the edges of the omelette in a bit and loosens it from the pan.

Then fold in half and serve.

That's a frittata
