My wife thinks you are all big girls blouses for talking about cooking and not football. But she gave me this tip for you all. To make perfect poached eggs. Butter a piece of clingfilm, crack the egg onto it and gather up the ends to make a bag, place in boiling water. Can be lifted out to test it, makes perfect eggs every time.

I enjoy cooking more than I do football tbh, on an even basis anyway.

If you don't want to drop the money on real saffron, try heating 1 cup of olive oil and about 2 tablespoons of anchiote seeds on a medium heat. Let it sit for a few minutes after and then strain it. Not as flavorful but still delicious and it will have the deep orange color.

Also, if you're making Southern Chinese food, just throw red pepper powder into olive oil and heat it instead of buying the expensive red oil from the supermarket.

Having this later for my tea :

'Steamed' Sponge Pudding, so easy to do.

4 ounces/100g. each of s.r.flour,butter or marg.,caster sugar and two eggs. Put them all in a bowl and mix with an electric whisk. Grease a plastic bowl, put mixture in, cover with cling film and pierce with a knife.

Put in a microwave, 4 and a half to five mins for a 500 watt oven. Every 100 watts above this reduce by 15 seconds.
Perfect sponge - add whatever flavour you like, jam, honey, chocolate, lemon or golden syrup to name a few

Peel and freeze fresh ginger. Then use a fine cheese grater to grade into food at the last minute. The little frozen pieces liquify upon hitting the food creating a nice essence. And it's also much easier to clean the grater.

Never cook sausages from raw on the BBQ, always cook under the grill
When ready put on the BBQ to get that smokey BBQ taste

Taste far better this way
