Mix 3 cups of basil or arugula, 3 to 6 gloves of toasted garlic (number dependent on taste), 1/2 cup of pine nuts or walnuts, 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, and olive oil in a food processor. Only add enough olive oil to make it a creamy paste, then put the pesto in an ice cube tray to freeze for 15 minutes. Take them out and wrap the cubes individually then add to pasta, chicken, salmon, ect. Use a little more olive oil to loosen the pesto each time. I've also experimented adding red pepper and sichuan pepper with the basil or arugula.

I'll try that ; never heard of arugula though.
 

Out of eggs or trying to not eat them? Brownies can be made with apple sauce as a substitute.
Have you made them . I've been given three bags of apples so would come in handy. How much puree per egg ?

You can freeze apples : peel, core and slice them. Put in a big pan of water with a little lemon juice. Drain. Get some trays - cover with cling film, tin foil or greaseproof paper. Lay slices down on tray without touching and put in the freezer. When frozen store in the freezer in containers or freezer bags. The slices won't stick in a big clump if done this way.
Can be used in pies from frozen.

Lay a wooden spoon over a saucepan to stop the water boiling over.

...never tried it, but it sounds like it might work
 
Defrosting food is much quicker if done on a metal tray because it absorbs radiant heat from the atmosphere. And it does work.
