Japan have made fascinating & unique contributions to world-culture...but are arguably a quite impenetrable folk.

I'm into classic samurai & j-horror flicks at the moment...they deffo have their own vibe going on. also very familiar with their music-/camera-/gaming-tech: these have had a massive influence on the world.
would love to visit one day...a well-travelled mate who regularly goes says it's the closest thing to visiting an alien civilisation lol
I'm desperate to visit when I can afford it..

Top of my bucket list to visit.

Me too. Had planned to take family there to the Olympics and then travel about a bit, COVID saw to that.

Was suppossed to go for my honeymoon but the borders were closed to tourism due to covid. Hoping to go next year.

My dream place to visit/live

be ace if yous manage it. lots to consider, at least in our case: is the missus a fan? would the kids like it? can we get by without the language? would we run out of money?

might have to be a solo-trip when the kids are a bit older...#filesunderpipedream.

It would be a solo trip for me. Although middle child is also keen..

Would of been ace that mate. I’d probably only go to Tokyo as they will be used to knob head tourists like me but I bet the rest of the country is great.
Ye, there are weird bits of the country id like to go to. It is safe also, which makes it appealing for taking my kids.

I have spent all the budget now so will just go to Greece

in my case, kids are now older and I’d not necessarily take them
Just me, wife and a pocket full (half) of yen

Definetly in the plans. Been checking flights and want to go around April/May. I think it will be a better one for us to do child free and i don’t fancy pushing a pram on the crowded streets of Tokyo. Although my brother was in South Korea a fee weeks back with his 2 year old and said that was fine.

Pros: Kobe beef, Wasabi, everyone seems very polite, some lovely scenery away from the cities, Shiba Inus

Negs: Anime, very right wing/conservative culture, capitalism on crack with all the advertising everywhere, natural disasters, partly responsible for weebs existing, did I mention anime ?
