Went to Yucatan a few years ago in August, unbearably hot and humid. I remember taking a Colectivo which is a cheaper option to a taxi and is basically a minibus rammed with local people and assorted animals. It was a bit embarrassing because all the locals in the bus appeared fine but I was literally melting with the heat. I honestly though I wouldn't survive the journey

Ps. My brothers mates, sister was married to a Mexican lad and I never knew that they had a caste system, similar to India.

He was very light skinned and similar to India, that was a symbol of being of a higher class / social standing - his parents were minted.

Nah it's ace provided you're not a cop or in a gang. If you go away from the tourist places it's your own stupid fault, I definitely wouldn't advise travelling around the country. Tijuana is some experience but I wouldn't go with the missus for two reasons. 1, Mexican women are absolutely sublime you'd end up getting filled in and 2, Mexican men (Like Italians) simply don't care if she's with you, they will actively try to bang her right in-front of you then laugh it off and try and make you out to be an angry possessive type. This hasn't happened to me but I've watched it happen a few times.

Give me Tijuana over Vegas tbh.

Been many times to various regions of Mexico in addition to living among many in California for many years. I love the country & have preferences based on region/food. Much to see and locals are friendly. Corruption and drug wars are real factors that have to be weighed before visiting a particular region
