Oooh you're one of them are you?! When I worked for Land Registry Lancashire properties were dealt with by the Lytham Office and Cumbria was dealt with by Durham. Pre digitisation of course. The Cumbrian LA postcodes caused endless confusion as to which office had/should have all the plans and documents.

Merseyside is still in the historic county palatine of Lancashire regardless of the metropolitan county that they made up.
