These sort of awful performances in pre season feed into how you start the season

The positive feel of any new signings is just destroyed when we then go into friendlies against teams in lower (and sometimes several levels lower) and struggle to even figure out what a football is.

So fans are then already expecting the worse in the first game of the season.

It’s preseason so I get that we don’t want to be peeing our pants just yet but these games are still meant to have some purpose, like trying new players or getting fitness into starters. Where does playing Keane, Holgare, Young, Coleman etc come into that? Are they going to be our starting defenders,
