The costs at the time were massive.

The harm done since has somehow been even larger.

The obnoxious twittery* that has been unleashed from then seems to have snowballed and become to some something to be proud of. "No one is telling me anything ever again!". Fueled by social media, the imbeciles were mobilised, and flag bearers for them came to the fore. It's been a steady deterioration but covid made it much sharper and suddenly being a thick twit* was not only ok it was actively encouraged. So what if I'm thicker than mince, that's everyone else's problem. All the wrong people died.

Most started walking.
Then stopped.
I was annoyed I wasn't furloughed more,I only made paper, which most if us believed wasn't essential, obviously shareholders would disagree.
Think a lot of profiteering has happened since.
Depends on the type of paper made. I work in paper and we were essential because cardboard was needed for the food industry. I alternated days in office and from home although our lockdowns were not for very long here. Loved the lack of traffic on the roads and the cheap fuel.

Wasn't packaging for food we made.
I was front line, so to speak, I couldn't work from home.
It's closed down anyway, mismanaged, not covid.

Can we stop harking back to this as if it should be nostalgia-tinged?
For me and my wife we got time with our 2 children who were 5 and 3 that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise, having our own St Patrick's day parade in the yard is something the older of the 2 remembers fondly and mentions it every St Patrick's day since, I know it was a terrible time for some and the worst time for others but for us living in the country side it is remembered much differently than those living in towns or city. I would say for some it should be/is nostalgic.

Good for you but me and my wife are both frontline NHS staff and had no such luxury.

Rather, we wondered what deadly illness we could potentially be bringing home to our kids each day.

Nothing but respect for you and the others who where on the frontlines, but i would still suggest that a blanket ban on it being nostalgic isn't a fair response either.
