Why's it dropped off so much recently? Seemed to be pretty stable ~£5k before? Not got any, but followed the thread/rise-and-fall with interest.
You always seem to have insightful posts on these matters are you a financiar??Greed drove it up. Fear is driving it down.
I've always observed that nobody ever asks "Why is it going up?" when it is doubling in price every month.. they think its because they're a genius with some sort of insight seeing something in the market that the idiots sitting on the sides just don't get, but everyone asks "why it is going down?" when it loses half its value. That should tell you something about human pyschology.
All markets are driven ultimately by human emotion. Most of we the time are fairly rational and kept in check and price reflect fundamentals, but sometimes you get a runaway bubble where all sense of fundamental evaluation goes out of the window.
Bitcoin and other crypto currencies have an intrinsic value that is very close to zero. No reason why over time the bubble deflates and the market return to rationality that it won't be driven back down towards that level.

The market realising what it is / was I suppose... And backing right out of itSure I get that, but it's been pretty level for 4/5 months, then all of a sudden dropped 20% the last couple days. Must be some other factor involved at this point. As far as I can see hasn't dropped that low at all in the interveening period.
Seems to have been caused by Bitcoin Cash forking into two new coins (Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV).Sure I get that, but it's been pretty level for 4/5 months, then all of a sudden dropped 20% the last couple days.
