Right now, I would much rather Hull lose today and Everton to win, so that the the gap between ourselves and the lower parties opens up.

That's what I am swaying towards. As @matty1878 rightly mentioned, we do not want teams to pull away, but Hull are currently only four behind.

The others are even closer. I'd reluctantly settle for tenth or eleventh this season, as I worry it could be lower.

Is it wrong to wish one of your own players booked so that he'll miss a match? I think in this instance its not, especially if it gives a chance to see McCarthy and Besic together ! At least there would be a high tempo in the engine room !!

I've heard Barkley has been dropped to the bench. Completely unsure of the validity of this though, so I am eager to see if it is true.

That's what I would go with.

Or possibly swap Naismith for Barkley and hope Barkley remembers how to play football.
