He's shown his arrogance as well as his limited ability imo. Having a pop at Chelsea for having the audacity to play in a manner that negated their strengths after gifting them the points by pressing too high up the pitch and leaving the back door wide open. When all they needed was a point.

Last night, home and hosed, but again he shows his arrogance and lack of nous, by refusing to shut up shop.

It's all about him, from his distasteful Hillsborough armband to his blaming of his players today, the man's an egotistical beaut.

His comments post match about Moyes were terrible too. I have no regard for Moyes, but to kick him when he was down by ridiculing his words about not being favourite for the MU/LFC match at OT revealed what a petty minded snide he is.

Truth is, he's played those Kopites like a grand piano: all the family club/we play in a certain way bollocks lapped up by the gullible. Hats off to him. The greatest conman in PL history aided and abetted by crony journalists.

Regardless of whether City slip up or not, he's been found out in the run in. He completely lost the plot in the last two matches. In fact you can throw in the Norwich game too. Pressure needs a cool head and he thinks just saying "we go with Plan A+" is a response to in-game changes. He's been getting plaudits all season and I've argued on here he doesn't deserve them. He's rode on the coat-tails of a system that suits Gerrard's game (and is probably imposed by Gerrard) and the fact that until recently the rest of the PL refused to learn the lesson of their largely agricultural play, preferring instead to look on and fear the finishing of Suarez/Sturridge.

If they finish second it'll be the beginning of the end for Rodgers.

A touch harsh. Didn't Palace's second goal come only two minutes after the first? And they probably just thought it was a freak. I don't really understand why Agger plays so little though. Surely he would have the best understanding with Skrtel? Sakho doesn't look comfortable at all and I wouldn't really trust Toure.

My concern is that we're all celebrating a bit too early. Villa have beaten Chelsea and City at home as well as Arsenal and Southampton away this year and they gave Liverpool a scare at Anfield. The pressure will be off them now that they're safe and City have stuttered a bit recently. It would be terrible if the RS got to have the last laugh after all the piss-taking they've had to endure this week.

That's exactly the point Lee Dixon made in the NBC commentary last night. Said Liverpool should have slowed the game down, had some players go down with 'injuries', you know, the professional time wasting stuff. Mystifying really!

As I said in my post, regardless of that outcome Rodgers has shown his limitations.

And considering footie fans, and scouse footie fans in particular, are usually not taken by such stuff and can smell a fraud a million mile off, it really is quite impressive.

It just underlines how desperate they are for a Messiah. It's in their genes that they swoon at the prospect of being led to the promised land by a leader, as in the past. This feller's just another fraud though.

7th to 2nd is pretty good.

Rodgers has done exactly what Martinez has done. They've both got their clubs something neither has seen for a few years and what most people would consider a successs, cl for them, europa for us. But in both cases they were challenging for an even greater prize which they had no right to be going for, the league for them, the cl for us and then threw it away at the end.

So the prize they have won looks worse in comparison but it's still quite good, in the end.

Yes Rodgers had had more money and more time than Martinez but the bottom line is 8th to 2nd in two seasons. You can't really knock that.

You've really rather missed the point of this thread, haven't you?

Can we start deleting well reasoned posts please mods? Makes us look stupid.

Don't think anyone is denying that mate - but what makes the situation funny is that they had delusions of grandeur and acted like bad teds about what was happening. To fail in the way they have utterly eclipses any success they have this season. For Captain Fantastic to slip on his arse and then throw away a 3-0 win out of sheer arrogance is about as brilliant as it gets for me. It'll take them years to get over it.

Fair point.

Or, put differently: it was an appalling first season where he was lucky he got backing from relatively stable owners, and he should have finished top four last season too.

I dont think the leap is that remarkable, tbh. The season has been marked by change in the opposition dugouts and United vacating the scene gave rise to a power vacuum Liverpool took advantage of.
