It says an awful lot that our fans have to treat a 28 year old seasoned pro like one of the kids with no first team games under his belt that's just been thrown in at the deep end.

But surely a performance remains the same though, so if its an awful performance for Martina then if Kenny or whoever puts in a similar performance its then also awful not oh hes 20 so we call that awful performance decent instead.

I know Martina isn't great but people had decided straight away they don't like him and over exaggerate his displays for us
 
Come on. It was a good performance by him. But it was still a crap performance in general. We had to change our tactics just to cover for the fact that he can’t defend anyone. Great cross to DCL I’ll give you. He can serve a ball no question. But he’s still not any good. Don’t hate the guy, but if we don’t dramatically upgrade at LB, every game is going to be like this.

No I'm not talking about an individual performance. He was fine last night, wasn't tested at all by the dreadful Atsu, but he was fine still. I'm talking about writing a player off or giving them a chance based on what you've seen over a period of games. A young player is going to get the benefit of the doubt ahead of someone who has been consistently awful over the course of his career. One half decent performance does not make Cuco Martina a viable option for us going forward.

Martina is a stop gap at left back, just as anybody else would be.

And, like anybody else, he shouldn't be judged on his performances playing out of position.

Sadly sometime the written word does not truly convey meaning. My comment was sarcastic at best given what adverse comments on his performances have been like.
Plaudits for when he does good most definitely, and it seems he did so. Well deserved praise then.
 

He'll start tomorrow. His crossing is getting better and better and against Swansea at home he'll likely be getting forward more, here's hoping his purple patch continues.
