Consider my political views on the left (being working class, in my 40s and from Liverpool, it goes with the territory) however, some elements of 'wokeism' are ridiculous. Judging people on their views from 10/20/30 years ago is nonsense.

Agreed - Often though the trouble can be people doubling down on those antiquated positions rather than accept social values can change over time and their past stance isn't a great look in the here and now. Those who genuinely hold their hands up, admit to being a product of a different time and show a bit of growth generally avoid the worst of it.

Skinner & Baddiel with their Jason Lee stuff for example. The ones who look like absolute cavemen are those who to this day pass it off as a bit of terrace banter and refuse to acknowledge it as having been racist because it might make them look as if they were being, in hindsight, a bit racist.

It's possible to accept having done something that was racist, sexist, homophobic or whatever else while quite fairly not having the benefit of hindsight, knowledge or awareness at that time.
