Agree, but be good if we also "future proof" in anticipation.

I think we have too. Ultimately, people will wise up to the positive impact safe standing can have on the game and it’ll be implemented in some fashion.

Makes sense to be prepared - even if it’s say, 3-7 years down the line.

I just don't get the fascination with those clocks, they were up for something like 20 years, they look and are cheap.

I can see why Arsenal took their clock: (although they have a cheaper replica but it is so high up you could never tell)

(You are going to tell me you are the bloke sitting on it now just to make me feel bad...)

Restore and put one in a museum by all means but incorporate it into the stadium, not for me. Why don't we make new clocks that look stunning and that way if we move in the future then they can come along? Create new history and traditions that can be passed on with a bit more style.
Those 20+ years saw the rise and fall of modern Everton
They ticked away those minutes that were so often the highlights of our week, season, nay life.
Iconic doesn't even scratch the surface
They may even see the resurgence of present day Everton

They cant do that in the back of some builders yard where they are now

tbh, there's only one left so 'they' maybe isnt the correct word - but you get the gist...I hope

Anyone who asks about that - and their will be plenty - You’ll get an answer along the lines of: Its a sensitive issue and one we won’t tackle until the league does. With Spurs ‘future proofing’ part of their new stadium for it, we may investigate that but ultimately, the league/FA will decide on that.

I am all for 100% safe standing. As long as it’s safe with statutory requirement that’s there’s never ever crowd fences ever again.

Don't get me wrong I can understand why they might hold a special place in people's hearts and I am the king of old tat and memorabilia, for instance I will pay whatever the outrageous price to get a Goodison seat when it does come down so I can have an old wooden piece of history but to integrate that clock in a state of the art stadium I don't think is possible. Perhaps on the side of a tv screen maybe ok? But it's just not for me.

Even if there was a perimeter fence to stop people getting on the pitch (say if a player was attacked and they had to do something to protect them) it wouldn't be an issue in safe standing areas as each row has it's on rail, you just simply wouldn't get the same conditions to form a crush.

I don’t think perimeter fences are a good idea. Standing yes, fences no.

And a player could get attacked with seating in place now. The standing issue in that particular point is an irrelevance.

I haven't read through the whole thread but it'll be nice to have an idea when we might see some concept designs.

Sorry I think a misunderstanding is going on, the fences could be brought in now, say that bloke at West ham had stabbed Noble and as a reaction they brought in the fences. Safe standing would make no difference to that I mean. Just as safe sitting or standing.
