Darren Bent

Huh?
Heskey offers more, but can't score? I don't buy that at all. Bent is great at holding the ball up.
How many big games do you see Heskey or Bent in in order to compare? To say he's not good enough is utter rediculous. Owen did absolutely NOTHING for England other than score goals. Bit lame that m8.

He cant hold it up, ask Sunderland fans. My mate lives there and sees him every week, and says he's [Poor language removed] apart from scoring. Owen could do more than score, he was dangerous on the break and his passing was good. Bent just gets on the end of things, thats all he does.
How often have you seen him? You must be an expert on him if you can dismiss everyone else's opinions, and only see your own.

slurps on overpriced cola*

Seriously m8. You're getting boring.

Anyone who tries to find excuses as to why a guy who constantly scores goals, and is constantly in the top scorers in the Prem, despite playing for [Poor language removed] clubs ( and yes, Spurs were [Poor language removed] then ) should not be in the England squad is a Philestine.
Heskey is [Poor language removed].
Crouch is fine. Defoe is fine. Rooney is fine. Bent is fine. They should be our strikers.

So what you're saying is that anyone who doesn't agree with your opinion is wrong, fair enough I like that sort of stuff.

Anyway...

So your argument is, he scores goals so he MUST be ace.

I'm off to start a Kevin Davies for England thread.......

It will give us the countries best strikers at Africa at least.
The rest of the squad though is a tricky one, as many are there because their sponsors say so, or so it would appear.

There are times though that the balance of the team outweighs playing the "best"....

Take Englands midfield for example, it simply doesn't work with Gerrard and Lampard in there, you need someone like Carrick/Barry to play alongside one of them, together we look un-natural and unbalanced

Playing Rooney and Bent would give us an unbalanced front line in my opinion, our attacks would break down far too easily and we we would give away possession, putting presure on our defence, and generally lead us to getting beat.

Can your ego handle that? I hate [Poor language removed] stirrers m8, and you are exactly that with your little sit off remarks. Boring with a big B.
* A very big B.

We won't know that unless he is given the chance. Everyone else has been given a run.

Fair point....But doing it 3 months before a world cup is not a good idea
We will get injuries. We always do. Heaven help us if we are left with Heskey and Crouch. Risk taking is part of the game. Rooney could be taken as a Striking midfielder, and open a space up couldn't he?
