Terrible, can't imagine what he was thinking and my sympathy is very limited if he has a drink problem for making that decision to drive...

...those calling for his head will remember to campaign for the sacking of Pienaar and Duncan 'Disorderly' Ferguson as well then, I trust.
I think the main difference from a fans point of view is they were seen as valuable players for us at the time and he is seen as a burden on the wages bill.Drink driving is unforgivable in any sense, but when you possibly have enough money to call a friend and offer to buy him a car to collect you in,make it even more stupid.Taxi for Mr Gibson (in the John Moores meaning of the phrase)

No 'possibly' about it. He's a brewstered tit. Sack him. He's cack anyway.

Yep, kind of what I was getting at... so if that is the case for people and they have a selective moral code based on how well someone gets paid to play for Everton, then they should just drop the act.

Although I think some people wouldn't mind culling Pienaar as well at this point, I wonder if they showed the same vehement outrage towards him and Dunc as well back in the day.

If he's got a drink problem then I hope he gets help etc., but maybe the most dignified thing he could do from his point of view would be to retire soon, I dunno how bad his injury complications are. But there probably would be enough grounds to sack him.

I personally wanted Ferguson sacked, but then maybe I have a strong moral compass (I also didn't think he was as amazing as some people did)

im not a doctor but pretty sure getting off your face on drink regularly isnt a help for recovering from injuries.

Me neither mate, I also share that view. In fact, I don't think it's good for you even if you are completely injury-free. I wonder what could drive people to do such things? Why do people do things that are bad for them? That's something as a perfect human being that I just can't relate to at all.

I have no morale compass at all but I will say

Use this opportunity to start the ball rolling on getting him off the wage bill as he only played 5 games in 2 years. But in a society were we are meant to promote innocent until proven guilty we would have to be careful WHEN we can do this.

Question, if it was Stones, Rom or Ross would everyone be quick to get rid?

I know I wouldnt

not sure but in the real world people suffer when they do stupid things, luckily for gibson hes a millionaire premier league footballer so will get it easier than most.

They are all far younger and could 'maybe' be excused in that situation if they were sincere enough.

I don't think Rom drinks anyway, and Stones has his head screwed on - like.

Gibson should know better.

I think if any of these had the same injury/playing record as Gibson and had done the same then the answer would be yes
