Yep, kind of what I was getting at... so if that is the case for people and they have a selective moral code based on how well someone gets paid to play for Everton, then they should just drop the act.

Although I think some people wouldn't mind culling Pienaar as well at this point, I wonder if they showed the same vehement outrage towards him and Dunc as well back in the day.

If he's got a drink problem then I hope he gets help etc., but maybe the most dignified thing he could do from his point of view would be to retire soon, I dunno how bad his injury complications are. But there probably would be enough grounds to sack him.
That lovely word morals. They have no place in football,it's a business and even though he should be given help and as supporters of our team and it's players we should have sympathy for his condition.......................

when stones was out injured was he out drink driving and knocking people down or was he doing his best to recover and get back earning his wages?
My question was what if he did? But you knew that.

Bet hardly any would want hi fired, hung drawn and quartered like Gibson.

Hypocrites. Dead angry on the Internet and at the world hypocrites.

Should the same apply to Oviedo?
Oviedo did us good and got his leg snapped against a lower league team and is doing all he can to get back, don't feel as though the same applies to Gibson who just pulls a hammy, breaks a toe etc.

But if after this season Oviedo doesn't manage another game or just 1, then it's probably a waste to keep him on yeah

You're somewhat right; people are quicker to chastise because ultimately they're not arsed about him as a player. It's easy to judge Liverpool for defending Suarez but until John Stones or Lukaku does something awful, we can't really compare. Though ultimately I doubt they would, as Everton generally sign players with a bit more character.

However whether or not the cyclist is okay (thankfully he is of course) it doesn't change the wrongness of the crime, because if you get behind the wheel when drunk, it's out of your hands what happens. It's a bit like playing Russian Roulette. Taking that chance with human lives is what's so unforgivable. I just can't fathom how you can brush it off like it's just one of those things. Whilst I think people are in this day an age, only ever half a second away from outrage, I think this is a valid thing to be furious about.
I know exactly the implications of drink driving so save me your little Oscar acceptance speech at the end. He's a tit for it and will have the book thrown at him. But fire him? Christ, Thatcher done a great job didn't she? There's a whole legion of bells who can't wait to jump on their soapbox and demand people fired and lives ruined because they over value their own opinion online.

The fury is over the top. Let the law do its job and the club do theirs, hopefully with a bit more understanding than the legion of bells we have seemingly following us at the minute.

That is a very sad truth, at least for the highest level i.e. the football we watch. And it makes it hard to be a decent person when you have support the players one week and then lynch them the next for being idiots/bells.

So whilst registering that I think what he did is stupid and unforgivable I think people should resist the urge to reach for their pitchfork straight away. 'Cos as someone pointed out earlier, the mentality of people/communities/societies to just instantly enter witch-hunt mode is tedious and a bit weird/medieval.

He's gonna be tried like a normal person and then be financially comfortable to deal with the fallout of that and I see that as an injustice but one I advocated and accepted the moment that I cheered him on for our football team. Then the club should deal with him as they see fit (Gibbo fitness pun not intended) and we should move on.
