Drink driving is a definite no,but there is something different in a working man spending his last £10 on a final drink with his mates then taking a stupid risk, than a Premier League player who if pressed would be thinking hard to tell you to the nearest 100k how much he has in the bank and could easily afford a chauffeur driven limo to wait outside the bar all night for him.
They're both equally culpable.

I know exactly the implications of drink driving so save me your little Oscar acceptance speech at the end. He's a tit for it and will have the book thrown at him. But fire him? Christ, Thatcher done a great job didn't she? There's a whole legion of bells who can't wait to jump on their soapbox and demand people fired and lives ruined because they over value their own opinion online.

The fury is over the top. Let the law do its job and the club do theirs, hopefully with a bit more understanding than the legion of bells we have seemingly following us at the minute.

The irony that all of your posts wreak of is getting too much to bear. You spend your entire time on here finely tuning what you say for maximum internet kudos, and have the cheek to accuse others of such. Can you for one second, have an actual opinion beyond just "lol at other people"?

If Gibbo's done this then many have suggested it would be a breach of contract, and if so, why is firing him so crazy a notion?

Laughing at you not posting now and accusing others of spending all their time on here. Go you!

If I wanted maximum internet kudos I'd agree with everyone and be SUPER INTERNET BEST FRIENDS, or pretend to be a foreign football and tactical expert for the masses.

Like many of your age you're just trying to imitate the older angry types to gain authenticity.

Shhh and listen a little and form your own opinions instead of them of the Daily Mail.

Are those people so different in the first place? Some fella who gets taken out of education earlier than most to play football and is given a fat wedge to take home every week... I think this is the root of the problem more so than Gibson being inherently evil or something. Not excusing him in any way of what he's done but things like this will continue to happen until we're not giving a normal cross-section of society (who are slightly thicker generally than most) wads of cash and celebrity status!

Also are you implying that despite the act of drink-driving being unforgivable and deserving of the full wrath of the law, and that we should be angry that Gibson has a lot of money to deal with that better than most..... that it's not as bad when some 'working man' does it?

This. He's paid a (Poor Language Manually Removed) whopping wage to keep himself in peak condition & abide by an ethical code - an ambassador for the club, if you like. When he's finished as a player (Wonder if this'll be the catalyst? I doubt it, though) he'll be able to spend his time & dough as he sees fit.

And for all his dough - it won't exempt him from the law of the land. He'll be able to employ a top-jolly brief to get him the minimal sentence. The likes of me & you can't get that. The likes of me & you would be fired from our jobs.

That's part of the problem that he earns big wedge and if you are in the public eye then they self appoint themselves as a some weird fascist jury.

Not a clever thing to be doing and may be the root cause (booze) of many of his off the field problems but he doesnt deserve to lose his job over it, if it is really such a problem for him i hope that a club as great as ours would try their utmost to help him through it. The legal process will take care of the punishment side, he's a footballer ffs not a paragon of social standards. If it was Rom or Stones how many would be clamouring for them to be sacked??

Ah, Chicoazul, the 'teen whisperer'. Truly inside the mind of the young. He knows how they think, what they are and what they are not.

Listen up all under 30s, just pack your bags and shut your mouths, there is no room for your thoughts because Uncle Azul already knows you and your generation. He's been to more obscure Islands in the Bahamas than you've been to Starbucks outlets, after all.

It's okay though, with a lot of fence sitting and avoiding any serious introspection or the follow through of any proper thought, maybe one day you too can be champion of a disgruntled internet forum.
