Grates on me when people massively rate players, when never seeing them.

And a fit Gibson, is our best midfielder.

and a fit Lucas is a world class player according to the rs the longer he is injured the greater the legend of him became, Gibson WAS the best midfielder we had at one point, but he is not of the same class as McCarthy, Barry or Besic frankly mate, he is a one trick 'Gerrard' pass merchant

If he could just stay fit and out of trouble, I reckon he'd be a very useful player for us

The fact that Martinez hasn't given him games, even with the recent fixture pile up, tells me that he doesn't trust him anymore

Shame, but Gibson has hardly helped his case with legal issues

The injuries you can't really blame him for. They aren't under his control. You can't say that about the other stuff

yeah...not being on the bench last night was very telling...the team at the weekend will give us a good clue as too who are off or not

But, Besic was playing poor. He is now playing well.

Did you mean this season? Besic has not played poorly at all this season. He had a decent game at Barnsley, a decnt half hour against Spurs and then got injured after 5 minutes against Chelsea.

His next game was Spurs and then yesterday.

Gibson going out on loan may not mean the end of his Everton career.
He is fighting with McCarthy, Besic and Barry to get a game and if he went to a different team, played well and stayed fit he may well earn a contract....if he wants to stay.

Gibbo will play this weekend. Would be madness to risk Barry - I wouldn't risk Besic but think it maybe a necessity for him to start at least.

Joel

Holgate - Jagielka - Funes-Mori - Galloway

Gibson - Besic

Lennon - Naismith - Mirallas

Kone

Subs: Stones, Oviedo, Deulofeu, Barkley, Osman, Pienaar, Howard.

He was awful at Barnsley mate, been great for his last 120 mins, he needs to start more games.

I went to the Barnsley game (as you may have done as well obviously) and thought completely the opposite.

Baring in mind he'd had no pre-season due to injury, the first half against Barnsley he was off the pace.

As soon as Barkley came on and he took the impetus in attack - allowing Besic to sit deeper - then he excelled and he had a good game in the second half extra/time.

I don't hold anything against him for that game, I just judge players on how they play, and I thought he was poor in that game.

Last season, when people were going mad about him, I thought he was average, good in the QPR game, and I completely agreed with his lack of game time, from Bobby, but that's how ig goes with young players in a new league.

He is playing good now, and he needs to keep it up.

When was his last appearance, was it Norwich in the league cup a few months back? He got a 120 minutes that night and played quite well, even when he had to be pushed back into central defence. I thought afterwards that a long, tough game like that was exactly what he needed to get fully fit and sharp again and we'd be seeing him trying to break back into the first XI moving forward. Since then he's disappeared of the face of the Earth yet again.

It's a shame because at his best he really is a good player, probably the best passer of the ball we have. He just can't seem to get his act together and it's without doubt time we moved him on because it's just become a waste of time now for all parties.
