Darron Gibson

Blasted the ball over the bar from 35 yards when there were passes on...kicked the ball into touch from a good attacking position.

Other than that just took over from Barkley in a role unsuited to him....cleverley and barkley should have been the other way round really.

If we play anyone else there should be mccarthy or besic. Gibson should be punted, hes only "fit" as he wants a new deal.
Way to harsh mate and he never played in Barkley's position as @Gibbo4 has said. Cleverly pushed further up the pitch and Gibson played in central midfield. Which was the right call, we needed to mix it up, Barkley wasn't doing anything and Cleverly was our best performer on the pitch.

Gibson tried to get the ball moving forward, had a couple of shots. We basically tried to pass it into the net all game and it wasn't working so I don't know how your criticizing someone for taking a shot on and trying to break the deadlock. He only had 15 minutes on the pitch and by that time Norwich were happy to keep numbers back, not sure what you where expecting him to do.

You're totally clueless.

Well your username is interesting lol

I felt Barkley played the deep role today and Cleverley was in Barkleys usual position. Gibson came on into Barkleys position.

Is Gibsons contract really up this summer, thought he had another season?

Yeah i do think hes dragged out his rehabilliation as long as humanly possible. How else to explain why a professional athlete is seen out on the lash and arrested for a hit and run (which is when he should have been sacked).

He didn't play in Barkley's position at all when he came on, did he? He played as the deepest of the midfielders as he always does. Hence you see Barry in the box nearly grabbing a winner and Cleverley all over the place using his dynamism. So Cleverley was given the closest thing to Barkley's position (could be a good option there) and Kone also played much closer to Lukaku.

I don't think you can criticise taking on the shot too much. If not then, when? It's a frequent criticism that we don't shoot enough. Yeah I'd have preferred if he kept the move going by going wide to Coleman but it sat up nicely and it shows that he's confident.

I especially love the part where you insinuate that he faked getting a career-threatening ACL injury, cysts in the knee, a broken bone and an abdominal surgery in the past two years. How do you arrange going in for fake surgeries several times? The surgeons are in on it, yeah?

At the end of the day Besic is not being picked ahead of Gibson despite the fact that Gibson is out of contract at the end of the season. This must tell you something surely. Martinez sees them training and whether it is a short-term thing (1 month or 6 months) or with hope of Gibson finally being past the injury nightmares, I'd suggest you readjust your wishful-thinking cull lists unless you just want to be continually disappointed.

This is actually the longest spell of consecutive games Gibson has ever been available for since he joined, although obviously the true test of his fitness will come if/when he starts games.

What you're saying makes absolutely no sense. Why would someone "drag out a rehabilitation"? Being injured is the last place any athlete wants to be. Do I have to list the injuries again? So Gibson deliberately ruptured his ACL, then after fighting back for a year deliberately burst a cyst in his knee, then he deliberately breaks a metatarsal in training? All before undergoing some lovely hernia operation. Sounds fun.

Yeah, Gibson made a serious error of judgement and has been punished and in some respects was very lucky and hopefully will be the better for it. This has been covered before. You however manage to paint an incorrect picture. Firstly he was out with a host of other players, and secondly the incident happened the next morning at 9:45am after he stormed out of his house following an argument. Anyway, why I let myself by dragged into your circle of negativity, I don't know. Have fun focussing on the negative and being wrong. You seem to enjoy it.

I'm not sure how listing injuries is related to dragging out rehabillitation lol Its been well documented he likes a drink.

I havent "painted an incorrect picture", not sure how thats possible for a "hit and run". But storming out of the house after having an argument following a night on the lash somehow excuses him....should have been sacked on the spot.

Clearly i'm not wrong about either.

So on top of being out of contract at the end of the year and following a conviction for a criminal act, you think that he has been deliberately dragging out rehabilitation (again I ask how/why would someone do this?) and you think this has endeared him to Martinez so much so that he continues to pick him ahead of Martinez own signing, Besic? The club also wrote a letter of support at the trial saying he had never had any disciplinary issues at the club. How this fits in with your 'documentation' I'd like to know. Most players drink. Gibson has never had to be reprimanded for the club for doing so. Cleverley, Barkley, Stones and others were out with him the night that this happened. 'Documented', like.

It doesn't excuse him, but it is the facts of what happened. The actual 'documented' version of events rather than your 'went out, did hit and run' version that omits the period of time that he was at home in between these happening. Well he didn't get sacked but this is obviously something for you to dwell on. Something negative and out of your control. I gather you like doing that.

He was over the limit and got into a car and hit someone..

Then drove away from the scene.

That is HIT AND RUN.

Stop trying to defend him and laying cheap shots at me...clearly youve got some weird "thing" for him with your username as well.

Lucky no one died.

I've never defended Gibson over this incident at all. If you think so then you obviously lack reading comprehension. I've simply stated the facts about what actually happened and corrected your simplified narrative. You seem to have a problem with factual information.

That's funny mate. Accusing me of cheap shots whilst continuing to get them in at me at the same time. Hmm. I'm sure there's a word for that. And my 'thing' for him is called him being a player that I like and have followed their whole career. I'm not sure what the word for your 'thing' for him is. It seems like an odd choice to spend so much of your time on a player you don't like, especially since there's nothing you can actually do about it. Whatever floats your boat.

Hit and run is hit and run.. No excusing it and he's lucky to still have a contract.

However, none of us know the real story or the discussions between the club and him.

Based on his footballing ability, I thought he looked pretty good yesterday. Of course he's not going to be the sharpest but he's proved that he can be useful if he can stay fit.

I'll wait until he can play 5 games in a row before making judgement.

I dont think he could manage it and for that reason he cant be considered a reliable backup player...even with the new TV money, everyone in the league has it so we cant afford passengers.
