no doubting he can pass the ball but he flatters to deceive & invariably gets injured.

He looked good against Villa, then again everyone did especially for the latter part of the match. When he's pressed, has less time on the ball and limited outlets because the opponent is all over us is the time to judge.

Barkley's passing is getting better, Gerry's producing defence splitting passes game after game, Besic has a decent passing game and is far better in defence than Gibson .. some of the youngsters (Walsh, Ledson) pass the ball well too.

Another factor to consider is his cost per minute on the pitch must be more than Ronaldo, Messi & Co. Do we get value for money ? No.

Gibson is not the future, offers little in the present. It will be hard to justify offering him a new contract, question is do we run his contract down or get shut whilst we may get money for him ?

I agree, I would give him a chance. I think we should have sacked him for what he done but since we kept him I think we have to move on. Definitely worth a go.

Other than that just took over from Barkley in a role unsuited to him....cleverley and barkley should have been the other way round really.

He didn't play in Barkley's position at all when he came on, did he? He played as the deepest of the midfielders as he always does. Hence you see Barry in the box nearly grabbing a winner and Cleverley all over the place using his dynamism. So Cleverley was given the closest thing to Barkley's position (could be a good option there) and Kone also played much closer to Lukaku.

I don't think you can criticise taking on the shot too much. If not then, when? It's a frequent criticism that we don't shoot enough. Yeah I'd have preferred if he kept the move going by going wide to Coleman but it sat up nicely and it shows that he's confident.

I especially love the part where you insinuate that he faked getting a career-threatening ACL injury, cysts in the knee, a broken bone and an abdominal surgery in the past two years. How do you arrange going in for fake surgeries several times? The surgeons are in on it, yeah?

At the end of the day Besic is not being picked ahead of Gibson despite the fact that Gibson is out of contract at the end of the season. This must tell you something surely. Martinez sees them training and whether it is a short-term thing (1 month or 6 months) or with hope of Gibson finally being past the injury nightmares, I'd suggest you readjust your wishful-thinking cull lists unless you just want to be continually disappointed.

This is actually the longest spell of consecutive games Gibson has ever been available for since he joined, although obviously the true test of his fitness will come if/when he starts games.

Sometimes people wise up and are redeemed. There is always hope. Must be better than continuously focusing on the negatives, especially in things out of your control.

Also, this is a credit to Barry but it is amazing that Barry is nearly 7 years older than Gibson. Imagine 7 more years of a fit Gibson. Even 6 good months to finish things off before moving on would be nice. Maybe complete a hat-trick of League Cup winners medals in February.
