The fact that some were gushing over the passing of a guy that hasn't played in forever, is clearly rusty and a tad off the pace just shows how much we really need a midfielder who can pass the ball and create things in their half. Not anti-Gibbo here just think that it highlights how much we really needed to buy that ACM in the summer.

Although I do admit he looks boss, there's still a chance that he might crash as many many foreign players have after a good start.

Gibson played better than McCarthy, and I hate to say it because McCarthy has been boss previously, but he's been very average this season. Probably tired, carrying the Ireland team, as well as us for the entirety of last season. Give him a rest and put Gibson next to Barry this Sunday.

An appearance or two at the Euros will be in his sights now which should be good for Everton as he'll be busting a gut to stay in the side when he is given the chance to impress.

I think more important than the pecking order is that we now have a few really decent but different players in the centre of midfield, give martinez more options depending upon the opposition providing they are all fit.

Thought Gibson was top class when he came on. Fit and firing I think he has a huge amount to offer us. For me he offers great quality on the ball and always seems up for trying to spot that killer through ball.

Hope he gets a bit more game time next week and then maybe Martinez should start him at Boro in the League Cup.
