Thought he was very good in the middle, only player during the first hour who was making any forward passes. Definitely don't ever want to see him moved to the back again in any game going forwards though, he didn't have a 'mare exactly but he definitely looked uncomfortable and didn't clear his lines well enough quite a few times. Would keep him and McCarthy as our central midfield pair on Sunday.

Sorry folks, I fail to see what some see in Gibson.
Apart from his penalty and the occasional half decent pass... he is slow, can't tackle, should never ever be anywhere near the centre of the defence again and despite having got through 120 minutes tonight, what's the betting he's injured again soon.
I'm sorry, but when I saw him warming up my heart sank and it barely recovered.

Collectively, we were poor tonight, but I honestly fail to see what others see in him.

If you're lying on your stomach at the end of extra time with 2 physios working you over, perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to have you play 120 minutes.

He hasn't started a game for what, another 4-5 months? How can you expect him to show his best form in such conditions? All we can do is hope he stays fit and gets some sort of rhythm and a run of games and then we'll be more clever as to whether he can add something to this squad (which I'm convinced he can) or not.

I think we have to remember that hes been out for ages...

He'd be good next to McCarthy i think...sitting as a deep lying playmaker. Actually could be good in Italy in that role.

However for us hes a major strain on the wage bill and id just punt him because other than pass the ball he offers nothing and its like having 10 men when we defend.

We need fit players.

If we put mccarthy at right back then we wouldnt have any defensive mids...i could be wrong but i think last time we had barry there when mccarthy was moved.

He's comfortably our best passer of the ball.

Played well tonight, although he looked shaky at centre back a couple of times. Unsure why Martinez didn't just put McCarthy at right back as he has done previously.
