Nothing was said so I'd expect (or hope) he was omitted from the squad. Obviously there's lots of issues with him, but he can still do a job.
McCarthy and Barry are happy passing side to side, whereas Gibson can push the play forward with his passing. Could have been useful today.
Aye mate, I'm hopeful that once he's fully fit and along with Besic they will provide stiff competition for Barry and McCarthy because they need it, James in particular imo.
A fully fit Gibbo is a better player than barry or macarthy, we don't really have a clue what state he is in though

McCarthy has looked drastically short of his best as of late. Less tenacious and seemingly unable to impose himself on games like previously.
Gibson was arguably for a period under Moyes one of our most pivotal players. When he played we looked great; when he didn't we looked lost.
If he can get back to those highs then he should be challenging for a starting place, if not making the starting XI as you mention.
The problem is we're unsure whether he can meet those high standards again. It is easy to say he should be involved more, but who is to know.
There's been a lot of time, injuries and probably pints since then. It is quite easy to fall behind if you're not training and playing frequently.
Also, if he's not impressed Martinez with his behaviour then he may never be given the opportunity again. It's quite easy to be cast aside...
In the mainstay, Martinez seems pretty rigid with his selection bar required changes due to injuries or an almost like-for-like swap.
It frustrates me that the likes of Deulofeu, Mirallas, Osman and Gibson cannot get a game as the system is rigid regarding who is chosen.
