He looked good against Villa, then again everyone did especially for the latter part of the match. When he's pressed, has less time on the ball and limited outlets because the opponent is all over us is the time to judge.

Barkley's passing is getting better, Gerry's producing defence splitting passes game after game, Besic has a decent passing game and is far better in defence than Gibson .. some of the youngsters (Walsh, Ledson) pass the ball well too.

Another factor to consider is his cost per minute on the pitch must be more than Ronaldo, Messi & Co. Do we get value for money ? No.

Gibson is not the future, offers little in the present. It will be hard to justify offering him a new contract, question is do we run his contract down or get shut whilst we may get money for him ?

I reckon Martinez is priming him to replace Barry. Hopefully we do well in the cups. He'll get enough cup and substitute league appearances to be in contention for a Euro 2016 place. I think he might be ahead of Besic in the pecking order.

Exactly, the more of these you can get in a team the better because the opposition can't stop the killer forward pass. Essentially that is all Barca do, yes they have world class front players but every single one of their other players can pick that forward pass that creates chances, so it takes a monumental defensive effort to close them down. If you switch off after pressing Xavi and Iniesta for an hour the left back will probably thread a 30 yard through ball to Messi in the penalty area.

Currently only Stones and Del (occasionally Barkley and Baines) can make these passes. Gibson is another who can though. We just need players with this vision all over the team.

Thought he was one of our best players in the 2012/13 season and would love to see him get the chance to recapture that form. He still looks like he has an eye for a pass and at 28 he should still have plenty in the tank.

A recent talkshow on Irish radio said that himself and McGeady needed to leave Everton to guarantee their places for Euro 2016. McGeady definitely get rid of but Gibson has plenty to offer imo.

Hopefully gets some time with the upcoming fixture congestion.
