No, he really hasn't.

I wouldn't have thought he'd have got a new deal, but he has - perhaps it was a clause in his deal or perhaps it's simply because we would rather recoup a bit of money for him this summer rather than let him go for three.

But don't re-write history.

He was great for us when he first signed and a key part of the side. He's been horribly unlucky with injuries and no, his off-the field incident didn't help.

It's a clean slate for all the players though now - he's definitely got the quality to at least get a go in the pre-season under a new manager. If Koeman is happy with him, he'll keep him. If not, he'll be shipped on.

You were the one calling for action, anyway...
He put in some half decent displays three years ago, so what.

He's done nothing since, all his appearances from the bench last season he stunk the place out. When he came on against Leicester he somehow made us even worse.

There's no way he deserves a new deal. Absolutely no way. He should be first out the door.

If this is the type of action that's planned for the rest of summer no wonder Koeman's gone into hiding.

He also counts as home grown so if we are bringing in a lot of foreign players for the first team then that might be a factor.

Aye it could be, though I do think it's more likely to have been a prior agreement or that it's just to be able to retain a member of the squad who undoubtedly has quality, but has a lot to prove for the new manager.

It's surprising, certainly, but if he gets pre-season to show what he can do then that's fine with me.

He also counts as home grown so if we are bringing in a lot of say Dutch players for the first team then that might be a factor.

Not really LL, most of our squad qualifies as home grown really, no danger we'd need gibson for that

Strange choice to resign him though, the thought of him featuring much at all doesnt fill with optimism - rather see davies play than gibbo

Unreal decision that ive only just seen and thought it was a joke made by someone, should have been one of the ones let go for me

Poor lad was REALLY eager to see the back of young Darron

TBF, I wouldn't have offered him a new contract

Too injury prone and too many off-field shenanigans

Bit of a head scratcher really, even though he is a decent player on the ball
haha im happy he has been renewed if its a smaller contract. Give him the choice, stay and be a bit part for less money or leave.

clearly the fella loves the club, or can't be arsed moving house lol
