What harm is there in keeping Gibson? Honestly?

He's twice the player Cleverley is but I don't see any of you in there bemoaning him still being here.

Pack it in and get behind the lad.

If Cleverley's contract was up now how many of us do you reckon would be happy for him to have been renewed? And he actually played more than a handful of games...

Oh and he's never hit a cyclist whilst intoxicated behind the wheel as well.

Gibson is a far greater player when fit and deserves the run of games that snivelling fraud got.

What's the longest period Gibson has gone without injuring himself?

Look, if you're going to make the argument that he can be useful as a squad player then he needs to be reliably fit to be called upon when the squad needs him to come in. Over the last 4 years he hasn't been able to do that. What's the point in having someone being paid his wages who can't be relied on to be available when needed?

I think it makes financial sense. Get him signed. New gaffer comes in, doesn't fancy him, we punt him and recoup a couple of million as opposed to nothing. That's the only reason I can see for it.

Strange decision imo, but hey, I wanted Koeman as our next manager. Seems a bit soon to start questioning that already, not?

That fitness coach he brought with him really must be something special.

Read a post earlier that suggested Koeman knew he had already been offered an extension, and thought the offer should be honoured.

I like Gibson, but would be a bit alarmed if there are too many other extensions hanging around.

Why are we giving him a new contract to try and turn his career around though?

We're not a rehab center we're a football club ffs. He's barely played football during his original contract, not enough football that I would say he deserves to be given another contract to play more football.

He's already rinsed us for 4 years, why are we letting him do it for another two?

Why though? What has he done to deserve it? He hasn't earned it on the pitch.

He had a second chance when we didn't release him for endangering someone's life whilst driving under the influence. He should count himself lucky he was paid last year, nevermind an extension.

I guess we just have different views mate, no harm in that. I guess I'm more forgiving.

Teams are hardly going to be knocking down the door to sign him. If there was any serious offers that didn't hurt him too much in the pocket he would have gotten off before signing this extension. He's 28 and constantly unfit or injured.
