He's been signed for the quota hasn't he?
The criticism of Gibson here is nothing short of appalling. The lad never asked to be given a new contract did he? The club offered him one.
He'll be on very small wages compared to the likes of even niasse and kone, and just like I said two seasons ago, when we resigned Hibbert, I'll say it again now, his experience and talent (never said that about Tony mind) will help the young lads like Davies, Dowell etc...grow as players.
For me, it's important for any club to have depth and he's currently providing that. As everyone has said, he's not being chosen, not because he's injured, but because of how far we've came over the last few years where our squad can take 4-5 injuries and not be down to the bare bones.
I like Gibson, and whilst injuries have certainly ruined his Everton career, its obvious, that, when given the chance he'll slot in and do a job.
I mean does he really stand a chance of replacing Gueye or Barry in that midfield? Would he get on bench before deulofeu, Lennon or a very clear Koeman favourite in Davies? No.
The whole situation is being looked at ALL wrong in my opinion, and the Gibson saga should be looked at in a good one.
