I think Gibson when fit can still do a job for us this season. So much better than McCarthy.
Can you not see the complete contradiction in your post? Gibson is NEVER fit. His last appearance was (I think) the Cup game against Utd... he was a shambles. The worst player on the pitch. Not because of lack of talent - I agree that he has considerable ability - but because he is comically incapable of maintaining his health and fitness at a standard to which the club is entitled to expect. He's woefully unprofessional.

personally think hes dreadful.
He may now struggle to maintain fitness (for whatever reason...) but people seem to have short memories as for under Moyes he was pivotal.

For a good period of time he was the lynchpin to our both our midfield and play: wide-variety of passing; forward thinking; defensively strong.

He may not be near the standard any more due to a numerous reasons but he's never been dreadful; a crock yes but when he plays he performs.

And for me that's under Martinez as well. Unfortunately his attitude is another issue and I was shocked as anyone that he was offered a contract.

Personally, if he really wanted to then he could still offer something to the squad, yet I just doubt he'll ever fully commit to reach that position.

Shame really as when he first came, as @DualityNSNO rightly mentioned, he was actually a really influential player.

Gibson out yet again after more surgery. How old is he... 28 and how many games has he played for us since we signed him?
People talk about his 'ability' and 'could still do a job for us' - wake up and smell the coffee please.

He had a purple patch when he first joined us, but since then has been nothing short of an absolute disaster of a signing, and we 'rewarded' him with a contract extension, and he's retaken his place on the sick list again.

Compare his availability, fitness and performance record to that of Gareth Barry (35yo) and in my opinion, anyone who thinks Gibson can still contribute cannot be serious.

Having consulted my frosty lucky charms this morning the verdict game back Gibson will play at some point this season.

Not for Everton is my honest wish.

He's way, way behind what we need to keep moving forward.
No pace, can't tackle, can't head, average passer at best... Oh, and NEVER fit for more than two games.

Get him sold as soon as a mug, er buyer can be found !!!!

"bossed it?"

Seriously? Was he man of the match? How many goals did we win by?
Arsed finding the thread on here to check, but wasn't actually City, it was against Utd, and yes, he absolutely bossed the game and was knackered by the end of it, to the point he stepped in defence more often so that Stones can push forward more in the last 10-15 min.

We didn't win because Lukaku was an absolute tit and missed a penalty and about 4 chances. We lost 1:2, not 0:5.

When he came in we were all raving about it and had a run of 35 or something games that he played in and we didn't lose. But you know, crap player him.

Also did you know - a player can play REALLY well and his team can still lose a game?
