I think he would still need to lose about another 8 stone to look like Bale in the machinist lol but know what you mean, looks leaner. Can he stay fit for more than 3 games though, that's the million dollar question.

We have missed Gibson, as he offers us something different in his ability to move attack from defence very quickly with his vision. We have a really nice balance of central midfielders developing if we can keep him fit. Barry who is a good defensive midfield wrecker. McCarthy who is a box to box player. Gibson who has the vision and passing ability to move attack to defence. Barkley who can run a game and dribble past people. Finally Besic who is a bit of a combination of the above.

It should allow us to rest and rotate depending on the opposition. I know people think Barry has been awful and needs to be bombed. I think that that is slightly unfair, he's not as bad as people make out. I just think he has been overplayed and needs to be rested more often. I also think that he has been asked to do a job he's not comfortable with. With the likes of Gibson and McCarthy returning and the defence being secure behind him he can focus on what he is good at.

But yes, a very good performance from Gibson and fingers crossed going forward.

Gibbo is quality, best passer at the club by far. Always injured though, he's our version of Abou Diaby. Looked good since hes come back from his ACL

Barkley doesn't play through balls because he's coached not to, no coincidence that we've scored from about 2 proper through balls this season (Baines at Newcastle, Gibson v YB), but Gibson seems like the type to just use his instinct in an attacking sense. Barkley can play through balls, but the emphasis is on sideways passing with Roberto.

Seeing all other player threads are being bumped, I'll go with Gibson. Had a very good game (again) imo. Looks like he's on his way back to his best. Hope he can stay free of injury. If so, he should start every game ahead of Barry for the rest of the season. Finally someone in our midfield with footballing vision and knows how to pick a pass.
