Dashcams on your car front screen & rear

Just had one fitted by the dealer on my new car after my son writing the car off -airbags deployed I am thinking of getting my other car done which is older are they any good ?

I chose the direct to the ignitions type ......plus sawdust ....... lol

Halfords fit them, but the reviews are not that great ...... flat batteries etc plus they do it in 2 hours front & back from your ignition ...?
I would say if you can afford them - get them, it gives you a record of what did or didn't happen.

Some, probably all nowadays, record sound, spoken out loud NSFW comments might come back to haunt you

I read some guy was innocent in a car accident handed his dashcam in yes he got off proved innocent - the day before though he was speeding & the insurance handed it over to the police & he got fined plus 3 points on his licence for doing 80 mph on a motorway the day before - he forgot to edit that bit out lol -

You make sure on your dashcam you only download the accident ...... & wipe the rest off - my son can do that .....

Our CTV home camera 4k at home we caught the binmen doing an awful thing we sent it in to the council just the clip of the incident ..... they damaged a neighbour's car ....

They are poor the insurance companies don't recognise them or give discount on your insurance premium unless it's a proper job from the ignition on your car - they work but hiding the cables is a mare - the one from your ignition works when your car is parked up ......
Bizarre tbh, but I believe you, as an ex-auto insurance adjuster lol

Also it's exactly the same, you just take the electricity from a more convenient place, but insurers are asshats so there's that.

That's a lie. My arl man has one that uses the cigarette lighter and that's fine
Yes, they work for you, but no insurance recognition unless you lie to them - they want the real job as you can forget to link in yourself off & on as it's manual - the ignition it's permanently on .... thats what I got told when I had a cheap plug in one from my insurance ........

No, insurance takes the ones that go into USB ports and cigarette lighters, you don’t have to lie about it

Mine does not, I am not a lair ...... note the wording a handful of car insurers accept them ......on your link ......

Offer discounts on car insurance for those with dash cams.

But you need to look closely at the terms & conditions and make sure you have an insurance-approved dash cam. For example, only certain types of dash cams qualify or the discount may only apply for drivers under a certain age.

Many other insurers are yet to be persuaded that they should offer lower premiums. That said, they do point out the benefits of a dash cam for providing evidence to clear up claims.

Does having a dashcam in my car lower my car insurance? In short, no – it doesn't. We can't lower your insurance if you've got a dashcam, mostly because they're very small and portable, so they're not permanently fitted to your vehicle.
