David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

I just went on the comments on West ham TV and can't believe most want him gone. It's surreal. They have had 2 years of consecutive European football and been fighting in the top third of the best league in the world for 2 or 3 years and he's had a bad start to one season and they want him out.

Their squad is in a significantly better state than it was before he took over and they can easily still finish top half. Football fans have absolutely no perspective. I would actually be absolutely convinced that if he stays he won't finish lower than 10th

They need to remember what they were before he took over
Modern sky fans unfortunately, also the fact they have around 30k new fans compared to Upton Park.

Unless he is given top four millions to spend over 3 seasons, people shouldn’t expect him to build a top four squad.
They are having a rough patch but they will finish top half.
Any West Ham fan should check their history and see that moyes is already one of their most successful managers.
Can you believe he is already their most successful league manager in terms of back-to-back finishes? Less Irons and more tin-foil lol

The best one is they talk as if they should just be coming to Goodison and rolling us over. Bubbles from all the beer they must be drinking, the moronic gammons!.

Southerners, what do you expect? Scamacca is just coming back from illness, their marquee centre half got crocked in a friendly and they are trying to integrate nearly a whole team’s worth of new players.

Ideally Moyes will get the bullet as they will be a mess for years after they bring in a Rafael or someone of that ilk.

I’d love that mate.

For some weird reason, Newcastle and West Ham try to place themselves in a battle with us.

A long spell out the top flight for at least one of them would be delightful.

They would be mad to get rid of him , they looked a bit stale the other day but the have improved under him no end.
We had a few patches like this then pulled it around later on in the year.
New players in , European games they will take time the get it all together, but the must have forgotten what they were like before he took over.

He's done really well career wise by playing safe.

He's never had the bollocks to make the big, bold moves and it's highly unlikely he'll grow some now.

If a clubs ambition is one step above survival he'll do a job. A slightly more palatable Dyche.

But his record is veering towards the end of Benitez. I think it's 2 wins in 14.

After the break he has two winnable home games.

Anything less than say, 4 points and I reckon he's gone.

Could be right , I watched a few west ham channels after the game the other day,
Must admit I was surprised at the fans who seemed to think he was under pressure.
They watch them more than me , so know more than me about there own team.
Seemed to me a few of last years main men were not on good form Bowen, and one or two of the midfield players.
For me they wanted to go through Rice to often, good player that he is but it was slowing them down at time going forwards.

I think one of the frustrations they have with him this season is he's constantly changing his starting forward players and formations. How can a team play into some form if there's no stability of line up?

I maybe imagining it but he seldom had loads of choices to make at Everton, our weakness was always lack of real depth. It seems that even with choices he doesn't make the most of them.

They have had a different formation every game this year.
I know its sounds daft but he maybe dosnt know his best team anymore.

It’s almost like they have just signed eight new players!

It just takes time. For selfish reasons it would be great if they got rid of the guy who just got them near the top and into a European semi due to a poor start to the season. It totally messed Spurs up for quite some time when they did the exact same thing.

Yeah, I thought it looked a familiar Moyes team bad day at the office where the result could have gone either way. Like, solid enough but not really clicking. As you say, he had spells like that aplenty with us.

Moist never had it so good as he did at us. Yes he was hamstrung by Kenwrong but the fans would rarely turn on him.

The fact some mid table mob like WHU are already on his back 7 games in after two top 7 finishes on the spin should show him he should have never left us.

Serious question, how old are you? I have never see anybody over the age of 12 use so many 'quirky' nicknames for people, do you call anybody by their real name or do you sit there at night thinking of new ways to put a 'comedic' spin on a name?

On topic, I would say that we were just as bad when he had his poor starts. I knew a few fans who gave up seasons tickets because of Moyes and their dislike for him. I am sure the sane West Ham fans are not on his back, it is probably a minority of fans who, like some on here and like a lot of fans across the country, jump to over the top opinions based on very little.

What is playing it safe?
Prob in the top 10 British born managers in premier league / modern day history.
The manager has about 25% influence on the team. The rest is dicatated by the squad.
If he was backed with moshiris money I have no doubt we would have hit the top 4.
Timing were just wrong.

Fixed that for you mate ;)

Honestly, I think that's why they're always trying to compare themselves to us. Classic small man syndrome

The fact it took Newcastle getting tainted with Saudi money, in order for them to become an established Premier League club, just proves the point
